1. Earl Campbell
"Look out football, here we come, Houston Oilers, Number One.
Houston has the Oilers, the greatest football team.
We take the ball from goal to goal like no one's ever seen.
We're in the air, we're on the ground - always in control, And when you say the Oilers, you're talking Super Bowl.
'Cause we're the Houston Oilers, Houston Oilers, Houston Oilers, Number One. Yes, we're the Houston Oilers, Houston Oilers, Houston Oilers, Number One.

We've got the offense, we've got the defense, We give the other team no hope. 'Cause we're the Houston Oilers, Houston Oilers, You know we're gonna hold the rope.

Yes, we're the Houston Oilers, Houston Oilers, Houston Oilers, Number One. Yes, we're the Houston Oilers, Houston Oilers, Houston Oilers, Number One.

'Cause we're the Houston Oilers, Houston Oilers, Houston Oilers, Number One - Five - Seven - Eight, We're the best from the Lone Star State! Houston Oilers, Houston Oilers, Houston Oilers, Number One"

I know I know....I'm sad and pathetic....

9. don't forget the "punky qb"
THIS is the worst:

Chorus
We are the Bears Shufflin' Crew
Shufflin' on down, doin' it for you.
We're so bad we know we're good.
Blowin' your mind like we knew we would.
You know we're just struttin' for fun
Struttin' our stuff for everyone.
We're not here to start no trouble.
We're just here to do the Super Bowl Shuffle.
Walter Payton
Well, they call me Sweetness,
And I like to dance.
Runnin' the ball is like makin' romance.
We've had the goal since training camp
To give Chicago a Super Bowl chance.
And we're not doin' this
Because we're greedy.
The Bears are doin' it to feed the needy.
We didn't come here to look for trouble,
We just came here to do
The Super Bowl Shuffle.
Willie Gault
This is Speedy Willie, and I'm world class.
I like runnin' but i love to get the pass.
I practice all day and dance all night,
I got to get ready for the Sunday fight.
Now I'm as smooth as a chocolate swirl,
I dance a little funky, so watch me girl.
There's not one here that does it like me,
My Super Bowl Shuffle will set you free.
Mike Singletary
I'm Samurai Mike I stop'em cold.
Part of the defense, big and bold,
I've been jammin' for quite a while,
Doin' what's right and settin' the style,
Give me a chance, I'll rock you good,
Nobody messin' in my neighborhood.
I didn't come here lookin' for trouble,
I just came to do The Super Bowl Shuffle
(Repeat Chorus)
Jim McMahon
I'm the punky QB, known as McMahon.
When I hit the turf, I've got no plan.
I just throw my body all over the field.
I can't dance, but I can throw the pill.
I motivate the cats, I like to tease.
I play so cool, I aim to please.
That's why you all got here on the double
To catch me doin' the Super Bowl Shuffle.
Otis Wilson
I'm mama's boy Otis, one of a kind.
The ladies all love me
For my body and my mind.
I'm slick on the floor as I can be
But ain't no sucker gonna get past me.
Some guys are jealous
Of my style and class,
That's why some end up on their -,
I didn't come here lookin' for trouble,
I just get down to The Super Bowl Shuffle.
Steve Fuller
They say Jimbo is our man.
If Jimmy can't do it, I sure can.
This is Steve, and it's no wonder
I run like lightnin', pass like thunder.
So bring on Atlanta, bring on Dallas,
This is for Mike and Papa Bear Halas.
I'm not here to feather his ruffle,
I just came here to do
The Super Bowl Shuffle.
Mike Richardson
I'm L.A. Mike, and I play it cool.
They don't sneak by me 'cause I'm no fool.
I fly on the field and get on down.
Everybody knows I don't mess around.
I can break'em, shake'em,
Any time of day.
I like to steal it and make 'em pay,
So please don't cry to beat my hustle
'Cause I'm just here to do
The Super Bowl Shuffle.
(Repeat Chorus)
Richard Dent
The sackman's comin', I'm your man Dent.
if the quarterback's slow,
He's gonna get bent.
We stop the run, we stop the pass,
I like to dump guys on their -.
We love to play for the world's best fans,
You better start makin'
Your Super Bowl plans.
But don't get ready or go to any trouble
Unless you practice
The Super Bowl Shuffle.
Gary Fencik
It's Gary here, and I'm Mr.Clean.
They call me "hit man,"
Don't know what they mean.
They throw it long and watch me run,
I'm on my man, one-on-one.
Buddy's guys cover it down to the bone,
That's why they call us the 46 zone.
Come on everybody let's scream and yell,
We're goin' to do the Shuffle,
Then ring your bell.
William Perry
You're lookin' at the Fridge,
I'm the rookie.
I may be large, but I'm no dumb cookie.
You've seen me hit, you've seen me run,
When I get the pass, we'll have more fun.
I can dance, you will see
The others, they all learn from me.
I don't come here lookin' for trouble,
I just came here to do
The Super Bowl Shuffle.
(Repeat Chorus)

12. what about Pastorini?
He was a quarterback and a punter. Campbell had some great games, but many games where it went like this
1st and ten - Campbell up the middle
2nd and nine - Campbell up the middle
3rd and nine - Campbell up the middle
4th and 7 - punt

The old Packer strategery was not working, ya Bum, try some different plays!!11!!

I was at Jack's Firehouse in Fairmount for New Year's Eve, and the FIRST thing they did after they counted down and yelled Happy New Year was an Eagles chant. This town is obsessed. :D

4. I'll tell you this much - if Garcia wins a few games in the playoffs...
..McNabb may be heading somewhere else next season. Garcia only has a few years left but would be perfect as an interim QB while they draft the new Cunningham/McNabb of the Eagles.

Of course, unlike Cunningham, Donovan McNabb comes across as a really nice guy and class act. Just the way McNabb handled himself with the comments from both Limbaugh and TO showed that. Cunningham was a prick

13. Cunningham burnt his bridges here in Philadelphia
The crowning glory was in his last playoff game with the Eagles it just so happened to be his wife was due to deliver their first child. Cunningham had a big hissy fit about how he would skip the playoff game if his wife went into labor on gameday, which personally I could appreciate why he wants to be there BUT he was also paid a shit-load of money to play football. Perhaps if he didn't take that to the media he might not have been chased out of town. When the playoffs start you want to have all your ducks lined up and ready to go, so having your starting QB suggest that he might not even play pissed off alot of people.

Ultimately McNabb hired a private jet on standby to take him home should his wife go into labor (which she didn't until like a week later)

He was Andy's Very First Draft pick... so we'd be trading Him and his $60 million Where? While we find the "NEXT" QB ?

Too much WIP, gang.

5. Barry
Edited on Wed Jan-03-07 03:43 PM by Strawman
Remember, he was on the Lions. They were coached for most of his career by a complete buffoon who once claimed that a phantom had placed cocaine in the back seat of his car. Barry did everything he did for the Detroit f'in Lions. Put LT on Arizona or the Lions and then we can talk. LT is good, but Barry was the best runner ever.

20. He might be a better all around back than Barry
Since he catches passes (and even throws), but I saw too much of Barry to forget how great he was. I'll never forget seeing him as a rookie in the preseason against Phoenix. He had just signed that week, had practiced maybe once and on his first carry, he took the handoff and made two or three guys miss and ran it in 20 yards for a TD. I'll also never forget the game he went over 2000 yards against the Jets and how insanely loud it was at the Silverdome. As a Lions fan, that and one playoff victory in my lifetime are about the only good memories I've got. So I'm probably biased. If Barry had played for Dallas with the huge holes Emmit Smith ran through, the Cowboys probably would have went undefeated for 2 years during the mid-90's.

He's from the Payton era. Butkus isn't. LT is playing for a good team right now too. So far though, Montana has the most Superbowl MVP awards, and Favre and Manning quite a few NFL MVP awards.

I shan't elaborate, though, as it's rather pointless. This thread's gonna go the way of all others like it, since you simply can't objectively compare athletes across generations. There're too many variables.

36. UPDATE
Tomlinson voted AP Most Valuable Player
By BARRY WILNER, AP Football Writer
January 4, 2007

NEW YORK (AP) -- Spell this year's NFL MVP: L.T.

Record-setting LaDainian Tomlinson of the San Diego Chargers ran away with The Associated Press NFL Most Valuable Player award Thursday the way he eluded defenders in leading his team to the AFC's best record (14-2) and a favorite's role for the Super Bowl.

"When you're MVP of the league, it's a great accomplishment," Tomlinson said, adding the honor means "that I've had a great year, that's all, on a great team."

But with so much more on the horizon, he hopes.

"I would feel so much better about winning if we win the Super Bowl. It would feel like it would be everything," Tomlinson said.

(I am at a loss why the excrecable Peyton Manning garned even two votes - he collapses nearly as many times as Bush's syntax in a press conference)
