So I sat next to a military guy on the plane yesterday

Coming back after Christmas. Our plane was delayed and he was going to be late reporting in (apparently he was about to be discharged and had to fly all the way across the country to spend three days doing this). His ride didn't come through, and he was calling other people at Fort Lewis to see if they could pick him up. Apparently you CAN get a ride from the airport to Ft. Lewis through the USO, but he didn't have the $10 it took to pay for it (I heard him telling his friend this on the phone).

I gave him the $10 (I actually gave him $20) and was glad I could do so - while he reminded me of what it was like to live paycheck to paycheck - but I can't believe that we are leaving our military in situations like this - forced to report for duty after flying from Pennsylvania to Washington State, but not having the money to get to his base! So much for our soldiers, eh?

I don't understand why Ft. Lewis doesn't have shuttles for this. I see kids in the military on almost every flight I take. You'd think they'd have them every hour.

I'll light a candle for you Sunday at St Louis Cathedral in New Orleans. I was often that Young Sailor sitting in a bus terminal or a plane terminal waiting for that trip home or back to the base. I never had any problems but the uniform often brings out the kindness of our fellow Americans. Your actions are intensely appreciated.

I'm sure there were thousands like him all over the country this holiday season, young and without resources, yet out there serving their country. It really didn't seem right.

and post about how he was next to a good Christian, military war hero, god bless his young soul (I would have served but I have a spur in my ankle), and we had a great chat about the Bible and how great America is on the flight while some liberal kept throwing feces on him and shouting "Baby Killer! Baby Killer!!" at him. I tried to protect him from the bad liberal by asking the stewardess to quiet the liberal woman down, but since the stewardess is unionized she wouldn't do anything - the fault of the liberal media - and so I prayed with our miluitary hero, protecting us there so they don't have to protect us here, and we prayed for ten minutes while the liberal kept shouting at us not to pray, that God was dead, all while she urinated on her tray and threw tampons at us because we dared to say Jesus' name in public. Oh, and I said MERRY CHRISTMAS to her, and that finally shut her up for a few minutes.

After we got off the plane, we separated, but I saw him later being yelled at by that liberal woman again. Apparently he had asked her for some money so he could get to the base, and shekept shouting that she should just kill him there, stop asking for money, and cursing at him like Satan unleashed. I heard the commotion, and got over there as quick as I could (ankle spur slows me down, otherwise I'd be in Iraq; all the men in my family are war hero men, so I'd be, too, except for that ankle spur). I found out what the problem was - he had spent the last of his money to buy Bibles for orphans, sacrificing even his ability to buy food for himself (God bless our troops! I'm crying right now in joy and gratitude, and I"m not ashamed as a man to say that), so I gave him $500 so he could get some food, buy a present for himself as he was being discharged, and so he could get to base. He thanked me, prayed with me, asked God to bless me, and we said the Pledge of Allegiance together with tears rolling down our eyes while the entire airport was moved to silence and tears out of respect, except the liberal who kept shouting her profanities until she was arrested by the FBI, right in front of my eyes. The whole airport then took up a collection for the hero soldier, and we gave him $22,000 so he could buy more Bibles for the orphans.

I'm glad there are at least some patriotic Americans left who aren't afraid to say or hear the name of Jesus.

God bless our troops!!

And he would have had more money to get to the base if Kerry hadn't cut the military budget.

The last I saw of the liberal woman she was covered in spit from the God-fearing AMERICANS (that is, CHRISTIANS) disgusted by her outrage. She was covered in her own diarrhea, too, which she did on purpose to put our police officers in harm of bacterial infection, while she cut her face up with an ashtray, because atheists think the Constitution is secular.

This was in great contrast to a flight I had in the late 90s. I sat next to a military guy that time too and he told me he loved serving under Clinton. He said he'd gotten three pay raises and that he never had to worry about going to war for oil.

Except for the government, Jack Valenti, and others who say America will crumble if we nobody who'll want to defend it. (Well duh, this is the first war where vets will be coming back with nothing or worse due to cuts made over the last 6 years! :( ))

16. Well - it wasn't that big a deal for me right now

but one thing that kind of really got to me was that he said, "if you can spare it".

I've been broke between paychecks too, but I wasn't all alone going cross country in the service of the government at the time. I think it's terrible that he even needed it (and, by the way, he didn't ask me. I eavesdropped on his conversation).

When my brother finished Marine Boot Camp Survival training...he was allowed to fly home for the holidays.
Obviously on what the military pays, he wasn't going to be flying First Class,lol. He was exhausted from the ordeal and just wanted to sleep on the plane.
Anyway...at that time he had to leave the base in his uniform and return in his uniform. During his wait at the airport (pre-911), he said an elderly man walked up to him and asked about his military status.
Turns out, the man was an ex-Marine. He gave my brother his First Class seats on the plane and a hearty handshake and gratitude.
Of course...this was in the days when we had a sane CIC.:(
