A humidor question for cigar smokers regarding humitubes.
My wife just bought me a terrific humidor and I immediately started loading it with my favorite cigars. One of my favorites is the Partagas Humitube. The cigar is encased in the tube and air sealed.

Should I take the cigar out of the tube and then store it in the humidor? OR is it fine in the tube and will last just as long as it would in the humidor?...

Thanks

1. Take some out, leave some in, and see which you prefer.
In THEORY, they should do better out of the tubes
in a properly-maintained, PERFECT humidor environment...in THEORY.

But real life is not always "according to theory",
so I'd keep some as they are, for backup.

2. I've never held on to a humitube long enough
to find out how it holds up. I know the humidor will keep them strong for as long as I maintain the humidity at the proper level in the humidor.

Good suggestion though.

3. I would leave it in the tube.
I leave all my cigars wrapped up the way I buy them. Just be sure to monitor the temp and humidity in the humidor. That's your best bet for keeping cigars fresh.

Congrats on the humidor. And the Partagas. They're a fine cigar.

5. I like the Partagas' too. Have you tried the 160's?

4. Did you season the humidor first?
And then let it stabilize? That's important.

And either way with the tubes really, unless you are planning on storing them for a really really long time, then I may suggest taking them out of the tube if you have a really nice humidor for a good long aging process.

I actually belong to a great cigar board where we discuss a lot of this stuff (and trade cigars, etc) eherf.com. Over there I'm FuzzNJ. I don't discuss politics at all over there and just keep it to cigars, taunting, etc.

And if you are ever in the mood to trade some cigars or something, let me know. I have a stash of about 600 or so right now, so if I have something you want to try, I can take a look and see if I have it. That's another thing great about a cigar message board too, you get to trade like crazy and end up trying stuff you never thought you'd be able to try.

I'm going afk for a bit, but what kind of cigars are your favorite? I'm really into pretty much all things Oliva right now, especially the Master Blends II, but like I said, I have quite a selection to choose from, not as many as some of the nuts over at eherf, but still. :)
