After 5 hours of phone support from Apple, Microsoft, Dell, my iPod Nano is working!
Edited on Wed Dec-27-06 09:22 PM by Scout1071
Actually, it was Apple (over an hour), Microsoft (45 min), another Microsoft number (1 hr)(referred by original Microsoft number), Dell (1 Hr 20 min), back to Apple (1 hr).

I could not download iTunes to get my first ever iPod going.

I was finally connected to a Senior Tech at Apple who had figured out that the problem that I was having, and thousands like me, was that my browser wouldn't allow me to download. I opened IE and downloaded thru there and voila! iTunes is rockin' and rollin'.

Now that it's working properly, I'm in love with my new Nano. I can't stop downloading and copying music.

Plus is bad ass red! Yahoo!

(On edit - a portion of the proceeds from this iPod went to an African AIDS organization, hence the special edition red)

4. Thank you my dear CAPeggy! It tested me. It truly tested me.
I began to snap on the Dell agent, but bit my tongue and simply asked for his supervisor.

And I will say, and may get flamed, but my experience with Apple Customer Service was far better than the others - specifically because the Apple call centers are staffed here in the USA. Thank you Apple!

3. You mean all you had to do was download through IE
instead of the browser you were using?

Yikes.

I have had to switch to IE to download certain applications in the past too.

5. Yes. That is all I had to do. But, I can't think about that too much because
the stress from the 5 hour ordeal will begin to bubble again.

And when I say 5 hours - that was just on the phone today. That didn't include all the hours spent online yesterday trying to find a solution before picking up the phone.

The guy from Apple said he was basically going to use a sockpuppet and log on to the Apple discussion board with the solution. Who knows why he couldn't post as an Apple tech? Maybe they would be admitting a flaw?

6. Yes, be happy that you can use your Ipod!
I really dig mine. I've downloaded much of my CD collection on it and bought more stuff on iTunes.

I have a car adapter so I can listen to it in the car too. I download Podcasts from NPR that interest me when I have a long drive in the car.

You'll love it.

9. Thank you! I'm listening to Grateful Dead, downloading the Fugees,
with some Outkast up next and who knows where from there! I've already downloaded a full GB.

Playing in my ears as I type is Grateful Dead, Dick's Picks, Vol. 10, Disc 1, Track 3 "Mama Tried"

10. Don't forget podcasts. I have a video iPod too, but since getting my Nano I
almost never use the big boy. It's great for running, great for a stroll, great for the bus. And love the red!
