This is what I hate about ordering clothes online:
Edited on Wed Dec-27-06 08:26 PM by LaraMN
I got some stuff I ordered, in the mail today. I took my measurements and used the size charts on the website I ordered from. I was so excited to get it. I tried all the items on, and the bra I ordered fits, but the pants and skirt are both way too big.
Now I'm trying to figure out if I have to pay shipping to exchange them, since there isn't a store near me that carries the items I ordered. Ugh.

1. Ordering clothes online is usually not a great idea...
I order shirts online, the only ones that really fit well are American Apparel. Everything else tends to fit a little too big. I would never order pants online. Ever.

7. Lol! Noooo!
The one benefit to the capri fad- we finally have appropriate-length garments.

12. At 5' 10", I have that same problem....
As stated below, Land's End is good on that. So is J Jill, who tend to be extremely generous in their cuts.

4. Once I ordered a red jacket
...at least it looked red in the catalogue. It was actually a very uncomplimentary shade of orange. :(

6. Ohhh- that happened to me when I ordered a paisley couch cover.
It looked red in the catalog, and was decidedly in shades of pink, upon arrival. Very frustrating!

8. My dear Lara!
It pays to know your supplier......

I am very fond of Lands' End.......their stuff always fits, and always looks like it does in the catalog, or online......

You might give them a try, if you haven't.....

Probably 95% of what I wear is from them.......

:hi:

9. I've considered ordering for my kids from there.
The garments I've seen from Land's End seem like very nice quality. I made the mistake of ordering from somewhere I hadn't gotten clothes before, and assuming (as a friend told me) that they would "run small." I did use their size charts, though. It's just so hard to know without trying on whether things will really fit or not.

10. I second the Land's End

all their pants are hemmed to YOUR specs

their sizing charts are exactly what you'll get and the quality is very good

AND if you have ANY questions, their help line is (what a shock!) HELPFUL

edit to add, they had me measure the inseam from a pair that fit me perfect and that's the number we used and they were perfect (all 4 pair)

11. Oh no.

I know how you feel - utterly.

I tried that once; ordered a few vests. I should have gone with my gut instinct; the lack of measurements and their claim all were 'unisex' were yellow flags despite the size of "L" given.

Apparently, a womens' large is much smaller than a mens' large and they had the gall to sell them as 'unisex'.

Couldn't get a refund either...

I think the outlet was known as "GarbPlus"... in Florida, but if they went out of business, don't expect me to cry. I cried enough at the time...

Since then I'll pay the extra dough and buy things locally; the internet is not a cure-all. :(
