Does anyone use People PC as a dialup ISP?
Here's a complaint I am sending them.

I had EV1 for years without significant problems. Now that they've sold us out to you the service at People PC is driving me bonkers, specifically the dreaded "feature" that times out and kicks me offline whenever it wishes (usually when I'm midway through an upload or download. If I had wanted erratic service I cannot depend on I could have gotten that anywhere.
I hope you get enough complaints you'll change this before I have to switch ISPs.
Sincerely,
XXXX

1. I did

That's exactly why I canceled them, I was sick of being in the middle of something only to be kicked off. I did let them know why I was leaving.

Cheers

2. In my experience fighting with an ISP is useless. They really don't care.
And I've had plenty of experience with this matter. If I were you I'd change and save yourself the added grief. Of course, when you do cancel their service you should tell them why.

5. I was thinking if there are more using it, they might complain, too.

14. Good idea
But I've used them in the past and I doubt it will matter all that much.

I wonder if they still charge $1.95 a minute for tech support? That was the deal breaker for me.

3. I don't know anything about them but I used ispwest.com for years before
we finally got the option of DSL. Their dialup worked well and reliably for me - I got it for less than $10 a month paying a year in advance. That said, I'm surprised any ISP would kick you off in the middle of a download, that ain't nice at all.

7. No, it's not nice. I think the first time they said it was a "Security Feature."

6. I had them for 4 YEARS

10 bucks a month for access was what I could afford. They sucked the WHOLE TIME. I dealt with it because like I said, it's what I could afford.

Comcast offered a package of broadband internet and phone together and I grabbed it because the savings on long distance charges would pay for the extra cost. In fact I actually came out $10 ahead every month. Now my employer reinburses me for my broadband service so I really come out ahead. Unfortunately Comcast has not kept it's infrastructure up with the demands so voice quality on the phone is often TERRIBLE. I may actually fire Comcast and go back to bellsouth.

People PC will not get any better. Ever. Give it up. -- my brother switched to Netzero and seems really happy with them.

9. In between higher speed connections
I tried People PC -- they really sucked. NetZero might be a better option for dial-up.

10. I used Netzero for about 4 years before cable modem became
available.

Was pleased with the service and, considering how for out in the woods I am...speed was top-notch for dial-up.

17. We used Net Zero for a while, and it was awful
The "unlimited" internet wasn't really unlimited. They booted off thousands of people (like us) who used their services "too much". We ended up getting a few bucks from them in a class action lawsuit that was brought against them.

Bluelight has served us far better. :)

I may try one of the others for a month or so and see how it works out.
