2. Nothing but it's not as bad as it sounds.
We haven't exchanged gifts in years. We just buy one larger item that we may not have bought for ourselves during the year. Last year we bought a digital camera and this year we bought a weather station.

This started for practical reasons. My husband is as sweet a guy as anyone could want to know... but he is lousy at gift giving. So rather than have him waste money on stuff that I neither like nor want I came up with the idea of 'house gifts', that is, gifts that *both* of us could use around the house. The money is well-spent, and we get something we like and can use.

67. we do the same thing!
earlier this year we bought a digital camera that we've both been pining away for for a few years. Part of the deal of us buying it was that we didn't exchange birthday or christmas presents. Instead we cook for each other and do other delightful things on the important days.

While you're on the elliptical trainer, you envision stuff like: "You can't get me, bwahaha!", but with a boxing bag, it's, "Take this ... and this ... and this one's a bonus!" W00t!

They were sold out long before the Christmas holiday season, so we won't be getting it until late January. I get the feeling there are a lot of people with pent-up rage in this country. To put it mildly.

a little credit card wallet with 14 gift cards. She loves to shop. We also gave each other a big donation to the New Orleans Mission. That's a very nice gift, helping to feed the needy is certainly a heartwarming gift. We have been very fortunate for 33 years, its good to have the opportunity to share.

Seems like they're one of the few places that routinely have fancy underthings with a small enough up size to fit me. Fredericks of Hollywood does too, Victoria's Secret doesn't, since they have a surprisingly narrow range of sizes and almost nothing for bigger women or smaller ones.

73. This sounds so damned suburban....
But Mr. Z. loves to cook so I bought him a new Japanese-Style knife and two new cutting boards. And I've spent hours researching Panini Presses and am too late to order on-line to get one by Christmas. I went to five stores today looking for two brands and about the only thing I could find was George Foreman Grills. Like, each store had TEN different G.F. Grills! George has a retail monopoly!

I guess I'll order on-line, even though the model I want to buy him is out of stock everywhere. I've already told him he will be getting a picture of his present on Christmas morning. x(

79. Sadly, no. The operators were no longer standing by...
so, he'll have to settle for a Henkle Santoku knife.

I may still have a shot at a Chia Pet, though.

(Nice to see you back, sweetie! How are you?)

83. A teeny little iPod nano and a case for the 30g video one
his sister is getting him.

He probably shouldn't bring the video one to the gym, so I ordered the $79 clip-on one for the gym. I'm just worried that his big son-of-a-Teamster ham-hands will be able to work it okay...

84. You don't _have_ to exchange gifts
We're on a non-giftgiving crusade. My wife and I stopped giving gifts to each other years ago. It just didn't suit us. We're happy together and don't have to prove it to anyone. We don't exchange gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas... nada! If she wants something she'll buy it. Same for me. We give to the children in our families (actually, just our godchildren). If her siblings get together on a gift for their parents, we join in, but that's about all.

Sadly, when you're dating you're under extra pressure. People will ask you what you're getting for her, and judge your relationship accordingly. Is that screwed up or what? Another reason I'm glad to be married.

90. Leasing a horse for my wife
She's an avid rider, but, due to my work, she hasn't been able to get to a stable in 3 years or so. I found a place out there that let's accomplished riders "rent" a thoroughbred for $100 a month. I'm thinking I hit a homerun with this gift.

93. A trip to Mexico
It's a little tough on my budget but my wife and daughter want to take my 2 y.o. grandson to Mexico City to meet his paternal grandmother for the first time. So I got her a plane ticket and gave them both cash to cover expenses and entertainment.

I hope the holidays are full of good times for all you DU'ers.

Peace
