Poll question: Best male crooner ever
Edited on Wed Dec-20-06 02:39 PM by Neo
with the holiday music in full swing I actually enjoy listening to them. Personally I love Mathis. An amazing unique voice! Also very unique being an openly gay black singer in his genre.

Feel free to share your "other" there's plenty. I wanted to include Elvis but he's regarded as mainly Rock N Roll.

1. I enjoy all the artists you listed, but Dean Martin is #1 for me.
Frank and Bobby are close on his heels.

10. i considered him
while he admittedly had a great voice he loses points for being a fundy right wing supporter and loses big points for totally BUTCHERING all those heavy metal classics.

33. Oh thank you.
For me it's a coin toss between Sinatra and Cole. No one brought more meaning to the lyrics than Frank probably because he was a creditable actor. He certainly was more versatile than Cole. However, for sheer lyrical beauty of voice, Nat was the man.

21.  Frank Sinatra:I always think of Phil Hartman

Billy Idol: I think you're a bloody, stupid old fart!

Frank Sinatra: You're all talk, blondie! You want a piece of me? I'm right here!

Billy Idol: Don't provoke me, old man.

Frank Sinatra: You don't scare me. I've got chunks of guys like you in my stool!

22. Tony Bennett!
Dean was a great singer. Como, not too shabby. Sinatra? OVERRATED.

Sinatra couldn't carry Tony Bennett's microphone stand. At the age of 80, Tony is still easily the best. He may, in fact, be the best male singer EVER.

It's not even close.

29. Sinatra...the rest in order...
Here is my take...

Frank Sinatra
Dean Martin
Bing Crosby
Sammy Davis Jr
Nat King Cole
Tony Bennett

The rest...I have a hard time putting Mathis, Williams, Darin or Torme with the other..but that is just my opinion.

:spank:

I make a point to not listen to any Christmas songs recorded after 1969, with the one exception of John Lennon's Happy X-Mas(War Is Over). It's all just total crap. Even Clay Achin'(s.i.c.) did a Christmas CD.
