The Tacky Christmas Light Tour of Richmond
A contest out of control. Anyone else seen this?

I saw the tv version, which was astounding "Crazy Christmas Lights" on Discovery and heard the report on NPR this morning. One gentleman has 140,000 lights, and had installed 80 exterior electrical outlets on his foundation, with 400 extension cords. A massive Richmond VA competition.

13. That's no fun.
I prefer 225hp of gas-guzzling power.

Sorry, but I won't be able to attend the PF party, even though all the best parties are PF. I'm going out to dinner with the family for my sister's birthday. I have a gut feeling I may end up at the Olive Garden, due to my mother's ineptitude and the fact that my family has a brazillion people.

Plus, the whole drive down to Richmond thing is just a bit too far, even if I do drive like a maniac in my SUV.

Hehe.

I think it's funny that somewhere in that city, someone is crawling into garbage bins looking for peach pits for dinner and this dude is blowing 120 bucks an hour on electricity to win some goofball competition...lol. Well, not funny "ha ha", but you know what I mean.

3. The home owner must pay one hell of an electric bill.
On the other hand, maybe he trying to land planes in his neighborhood. I've always wanted to put up more light up decorations in our yard. One major stumbling block: I would dread seeing January's electric bill.

7. Reminds me a bit of the gaudy mess Al Copeland does in New Orleans--

18. I was just there; I really should have checked! But, I really doubt he was
allowed to have the lights after all the complaints. Last year he was supposed to move them to a park. I'm not sure what came of that.

14. Are you kidding, I LIVE IT!
I have a neighbor who should be on it if they aren't already.

That was on NPR this morning. The local station said "Another historic moment in the history of Richmond NPR will profile the Richmond Tacky Lights tour in about 3 or 4 minutes"

19. Unless these people are using generators
I don't know why their power companies don't sit on them. Matter of fact, I think there should be local ordinances against waste such as this. It's one thing if you can afford it, but how much undue strain does it put on the power grid?

Of course, if stuff like this were banned, O'Reilly would cream himself. :eyes:
