Landmark Forum - why I should go to their special evening
Hi all, I'd like your help and your information and experience.
My sister says I should attend one of Landmark's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landmark_Education) special evenings.

Because then I will see what has changed her view on the purpose of life.
Because then I can see that Landmark is all about World Peace by 2020.
Because then I may see how Landmark can improve me/my view on life.

What other reasons are there for me to attend their special evenings? Your replies are much appreciated by an ambivalent DUer.

Thanks, 24B

It is a money grubbing cult.

Thanks Omphaloskepsis. I never found that page on my googles.

The best reason I saw to be realistic about my sister's statements is:
...the "peak experience" created by such a group encounter can be transforming, but will only remain so if you have an underlying structure in your life to maintain it. That is, you'll quickly revert right back to how you used to be unless you really try not to. Worse, you may revert back, but not realize it, so you walk around claiming to be enlightened when your behavior is anything but.

The Advanced Bonewits' Cult Danger Evaluation Frame http://www.neopagan.net/ABCDEF.html looks to be helpful. I rated the Forum at about 54 (out of possible 180) from what I know of it. But I don't know what the score means - it is 30% cultish?

Thanks again, the information on MeFi is extremely helpful in how I will respond to my sister's good intentions. I wish she was back... :-/

(edited for the 'e' in Frame)

4. according to what I've read
they claim every body's brains need a good scrub but they don't know it. The course is doing wonders for her superficially...and I'm glad she's happy for the first time in a very very long time...she needed to have the experience of happiness again.

She won't take 'No' for my answer. In that, she hasn't changed :-/

Thanks for the feedback,
