My computer hangs at "Verifying DMI Pool Data" while booting. Any suggestions?
When I unhook all my drives (except my boot drive) and cards (except the video card), it will boot into windows no trouble. I can shut it off, plug in my secondary hard drive, which has my CD-ROM as a slave, and it still has no trouble booting. I shut it down, plug in my DVD writer, which is a secondary master, and it hangs at "Verifying DMI Pool Data" again. This time if I unplug the DVD writer and restart, it still hangs, so I have to go through the process of unhooking everything and hooking it up one by one again to get the computer to progress beyond "Verifying DMI Pool Data". I had been doing that with my sound card and my firewire card unhooked. It appears to do the same when I have those plugged beck in.
System specs, just in case they're needed: Windows XP Pro Pentium 4 3.0GHz processor 512MB PC3200 RAM 1x CD-ROM Drive 1x DVD writer 1x SATA hard drive (boot drive) 1x IDE hard drive 1x floppy drive ATI Radeon 9600 Pro video card M-Audio Revolution 7.1 sound card
I think that's it. If anyone can help me out so that I don't have to bring it in for someone to look at it, I'd be very grateful.
