4. Toot-Assisted Speed Run
Just like the 11 minute Super Mario 3 video.

Basically, the guy played this on an emulator using special tools, such as slow down and rewind, to put togetehr a computer assisted run that took advantage of game glitches.

6. As far as I can tell, he didn't take advantage of any glitch in the game...
Just used the Warp Pipes. He most likely used slo-mo to avoid getting hit throughout the entire run, but that is about all that is needed. Years ago, my friends and I used to challenge each other by doing "speed runs" though SMB. Getting under 10 minutes is actually not that hard, just know how most of the stages are set up, and don't get hit, and don't look back, the hardest stages are 8-3 and 8-4 anyways.

I did a run similar to this, beat all my friends, my total time was a little over 6 minutes, the only major difference between my run and this guy's run, besides me doing it on an original NES, is that I was fully powered up, with fireflower, etc. by the time I was on stage 8-3. That probably accounts for the delay, but I didn't die, that's an accomplishment in itself.

7. I think he used some kind of hack.
You'll notice he clearly brushed several pirhana flowers, and went right through a fireball chain in the underwater sequence. Any of those should have killed him.

8. perhaps, but..
there is always a certain amount of give with every sprite. you can get away with barely touching enemies if you do it the right way

9. The timing is off
The seconds are flying by, but when he does something like jump over a tube with the flower all the way out the second takes twice as long
