Need some new music suggestions.
I'm into indie rock that's catchy, electronica, world music especially indian, celtic, and african, and techno & new age. And I love female singer/songwriters like Jonatha Brooke. Hit me with your best sugestions. Because I haven't heard many in a while.

3. Ever listen to Osibisa?
World music group that started in the early '70s, but timeless.

6. A few suggestions...

Tosca (Richard Dorfmeister of Kruder & Dorfmeister); albums I'd recommend - J.A.C., Dehli 9 (video here)

The Knife (Swedish brother-sister electronica duo) - Deep Cuts, Silent Shout (videos here and here)

Emilie Simon (French electronic pop) - self-titled album, Vegetal (videos here and here)

Arovane - Lilies and Monolake - Gravity (two of my favourite minimal IDM/electronica groups)

Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra - Who Is This America (live performances @ Internet Archive, here)

7. Try this link
http://www.giantradio.com/music.html

These are mostly "local" bands from the Pacific Northwest. Some of the bands here are broke up but most are not. I am willing to bet that you will find something to suit your tastes here.

Try ABNEY PARK for instance. They opened for FLOCK OF SEAGULLS a few years back...
Their old second vocalist (female), was not into that style of music so she formed the band RADIOSTAR
(they should still be listed there too, she has a Sinead O'Connor sound to her vocals and she is super model HOT).

Two of my fave female vocalists should still be there too:
COOKIE, a punk band with a country flair due to the singer's decidedly country sounding voice on some of the songs.
DXD, think "CHER" with a growl backed by a heavy rock/metal sound.

It has been awhile since I visited there...I used to listen to bands on that link while chatting here...now I just play Air America Radio on streaming video while posting here instead... (Dennis Kucinich(sp?) is about to come on AA as I type this...good luck)

9. Nellie McKay "Pretty Little Head"
It's more jazzy than indie, but insanely catchy. Plus, she's an excellent songwriter, IMO.

12. First tell us everything in your collection
I can think of a lot of great music that's not very new but if you haven't heard it then it would be new to you

Right now I'm listening to Alejandro Escovedo's Crooked Frame and wishing I had more of his CDs.

I have several thousand CDs so it would take some time. But thanks everyone for the suggestions. This list should keep me busy for a while.

15. I'm listening to Pink Floyd's "Animals" right now
Sorry, I'm more of a classic rock kinda guy. Not that you care, of course, but it is a great album.

I guess I'm getting old enough now that I don't really get into as much newer music.
