My baby is HOME!!!!
Roughly 27 hours ago, my boy here was at the veterinary surgeon having his left hind leg amputated (bone cancer). I picked him up an hour or so ago, and he's relaxing next to me on a plethora of pillows and blankets atop a fine Oriental rug.

He's getting around pretty well, especially for 130 pounds of dog (now, minus the weight of one hind leg), and he doesn't seem painful (he's on some decent drugs, too, though).

Thank you to EVERYONE who wished him/me/us well.

Here's a couple non-graphic pics, 24 hours post-op:

15. Well, somebody's vet isn't stingy with the pain meds.
That dog looks very, very stoned. He's going to need a bag of tings and a stupid movie, stat.

Pass a hug along for me, would you?

17. He has such a beautiful face. What's his name?
Wishing him a very speedy recovery. There's an elderly gentleman in my neighborhood who walks his little dog every morning. This isn't unusual with the exception that the dog's hind legs are paralyzed and he uses a little wheel-chair contraption to help him along. Hopefully I'll be able to get a pic of him one day. If I'm successful, I'll post it.

21. You and your "baby" are my heroes!!!
  :yourock:

Most people will not spend the money to help their pets go through a surgery like that or even want a handicapped pet afterwards so I really love and respect people who treat their pets as equals and commit to their pets as they do for us. I personally know one dipshit neighbor who spent $800 for the new Playstation on eBay a few weeks ago but put his dog to sleep two years ago because it needed $400 in vet bills for a serious stomach infection I believe it was. We've spent close to $5000 in the last four years on our pets and on some of the strays that came to live with us.

I can see your "baby" is happy to be home but he's my hero too for looking and being so brave.
