Today we got a holiday letter that reeked of cigarette smoke. Yikes!
That's a first. It was from my Aunt, who lives in the midwest.

She smokes like a chimney and as I was reading her newsy letter, it took me a minute to realize the smokey smell was coming from the letter, itself. Wow.

She lives over 2,000 miles away from us, but her smoke traveled that far to visit us in our home.

How special.

1. Almost like a letter that smells of perfume.
Did it remind you of her? :)

3. Smokers can't smell the smoke.
Back when I smoked we had Secret Santas at work at Christmas. I couldn't believe that the lady whose name I drew guessed that I was her Santa because she could smell cigarette smoke on the wrapping paper of her gifts! As a non-smoker now I sometimes blush to think how many times I thought I smelled nice, but only really smelled like smoke!

5. I could always smell the stench, even when I smoked. It's horrible.

4. Yes! I have had those! Been quit from cigs for 12 years and have recently had a relapse.
The smell permeates everything.

It's so gross.

6. The smell clings to everything.
When we were taking my grandmother to chemo they asked her to leave her coat in the car because the other patients complained that their coats would smell like cigs after hanging next to hers for an hour.

9. No doubt!!
My grandmother-in-law's house was coated with a yellow stinky layer.

And, when my mother-in-law used to live alone, anything you took out of her house would reek! Including your hair and your underwear.
