 :yoiks: I just started this new job on Monday, btw. :P I was in a meeting earlier this afternoon with the college President and six other members of the administration, and my new boss asked me a question about a specific student that involved Federal regs and policy. Now, since I know the Federal regs and policies like the back of my hand, I gave her a straight answer without having to look anything up. It was a complicated question, too. I gave a logical, sane, well-thought-out answer. She just grinned and told the President that their instincts to hire me were correct. The Prez smiled and said, "I think we have the right person." Well, the Director of Admissions said, "Hell, she's better than that---she's a financial aid goddess!" As if there were ever such a thing... :yoiks:
The funny thing is that when I talked to my husband yesterday, I told him that they were treating me like some sort of financial aid goddess because I've gotten a lot of questions that I could answer easily, and they did not expect me to do that so soon. I've had faculty and staff stopping by to welcome me and to tell me they've heard lots of good things about me. Now I know my husband did not talk to the Admissions Director because they don't know each other, so I have no idea where the AD came up with that. And I know nobody overheard me say that to my husband either.
I've been called that twice this afternoon already... :P I guess I really am in the right place. :)
