Edited on Wed Dec-06-06 04:25 PM by crim son
One of my three sisters, the only one who has never visited me where I currently live, just called to say she's flying over in February. Yay! She's actually coming to see her new twin nieces but will travel north to see me, too. This gives me something to look forward to!

Okay, carry on. I realize this has no meaning to anybody but me and that's okay :)

On edit: Oh my god you guys must be bored! Eight nice replies. Thanks.

2. That's cool!
It's great to have something to look forward to- especially in February (one of my most detested months, due in large part to our climate).

I usually make it okay through February. It's March/April when I start to think about heavy drinking and use of recreational drugs :P

all the time. I think she told me it is a six to seven hour trip to her hometown. Alas, I don't know what town that is!

Can you ski? People do ski in Maine and there are a few places hereabouts that I know of although I can't ski because of joint problems. Vermont is a great place to ski, or so I hear.

23. It is true that this one sister
is always there for family gatherings, so I saw her last spring when we got together to help move my grandmother into the assisted-living facility in PA. But I want her to see how I live. On second thought, this house is for sale and I won't be living the same way for much longer. Oh well; she'll see the family before it breaks into pieces I guess.

How many siblings do you have?

37. I have three sisters and one brother
Only one sister is older than me. I'm also the only one not living an upper-middle-class lifestyle. So I really do not want anyone to see how I live. I spend an hour or more cleaning before anyone visits and they still think it's a pigsty. Which reminds me that I really need to vacuum today.

Yes, we almost never get together, all four of us. We all have children and all my sisters have at least one child under four years of age. The last time we were all in one place was... my grandfather's funeral. Geez, it's time we found another occasion to meet. :hi:

31. Does it bother you or do you think she has a good reason?
For me, it's both. She did visit me once when I lived in the woods, and she was so horrified by the isolation and the bugs that she cut the visit short and went down to Boston. Again, I couldn't blame her but it did hurt my feelings.

were she ever to manage it. I think it must be hard to lose family to the great Fundy Void. A friend where I used to work had that experience and she spoke about it often.

40. Sad thing is, the real sister is in there. She was such a rebel back when.
I see glimpses of her old self, but she's become so rigid. She claims to be happy. Her husband is awesome...a really good guy. But he grew up a Baptist and uses the church as a social thing. She takes everything she hears literally. My only conclusion is that because she moved to Canada to marry him, and wanting desperately to fit in with his community, she went overboard with her beliefs.

41. I think you're probably right.
People do that, and even if she had not moved I can understand the sense of security and belonging that comes from being part of a religious/spiritual community. Maybe over time she will relax a bit.

52. I do have a few close women friends, but no sisters.
I've always been very envious of those who do. I have three wonderful brothers with three wonderful sisters-in-law, but except for the newest one, they all have sisters and I don't get pulled into the 'loop' very often.

I really hope my daughters grow up to be like my mom and my aunt. They were seven years apart and the absolute best of friends their entire lives. One was the other's maid of honor, one was the matron. We always went there for Christmas, they came to our house for Thanksgiving. You know what I mean.

Friends are great, but it's not the same. I hope you have a wonderful time with her.
