How do you feel about poetry?
Do you read it regularly? Do you have positive feelings about it but never, or hardly ever, read it? Did school kill every positive feeling you ever had about it?

1. Not regularly
but I do enjoy reading poetry.
Sometimes it can get a little abstruse for me.

2. If it doesn't rhyme
its not poetry to me. IMHO

3. Does that mean a translation of a poem written in another language
has to rhyme, or it isn't poetry?

4. Point taken.
Let me just say I have more 'positive feelings' about poetry it it rhymes.

5. Poetry scares me
Poetry scares me
They say it subtly,
Using big words so I
Gotta get my dictionary.

What does it mean?
I can't be seen,
Scratching my head
and straining out my speen.

I know I can read it,
Maybe I can feel it,
But what I don't know is
Whether or not I get it.

They think they're clever,
But can I be? Never.
They deftly use that pen
like they would use a lever.

Seriously,
Poetry's got no place for me.
I sure as shit can't write it.
Reading this, you're thinking 'obviously'.

:freak:

7. I just don't get the appeal of poetry...
I know people think it is art and that it represents the beauty of the language etc. So I pass on poetry, if you like it fine, but I will stick to Terry Brooks, Molly Ivins, JRR Tolkien, and all the other fine authors that I read who give me an appreciation for the language.
