that make the book scary, but the ease with which he manipulated other's minds and coerced them into such unspeakable things. That and there are a couple of paranormal moments in the book that made me put it down for days at a time.

Check this out: the "Downward Spiral" album by NIN was written in the Tate mansion. When I heard that I couldn't listen to that album for weeks. The imagery that he conveyed from that house into song (lyrically and musically) was WAY too powerful for even my hardened psyche.

The most interesting fact from the book: Charles Manson is the only person ever to have been given the death penalty in CA that never killed a single person.
