I am PISSED OFF...my continuing break in saga
So I took off work today to clean up the apartment and deal with the cops and the apartment people and the bank and all the other stuff you do to make yourself feel safer after a break in. Well, I talked to the apartment people at 8:45 this morning and was told that a contractor had already been contacted to come fix my door today. Well, it's almost 1:15 pm and I still haven't seen hide nor hair of this alleged contractor and I'm getting pretty fucking irritated. I wanted this fixed TODAY. The apartment manager led me to believe he wanted it fixed TODAY. Goddamnit I want my sense of security back and I want to talk to the contractor IN PERSON about what they're going to do to fix the door and I don't want to have to take off work again tomorrow to deal with it. Fuckers!

1. That sounds VERY annoying.
Here, let me join you.
:banghead:

I assume that you've been back in touch with the apartment manager to alert him that the contractor hasn't shown up yet. It would be nice if the mgr could get a time window for you or at least an assurance that the contractor will show today. You don't need the stress!

3. Velma, if you do nothing else...
If the contractor doesn't show today, make your way to Lowes this evening and buy a safety lock to put on your door so that at least you are safe when you are home. You can do it yourself.

And they only cost about $10.

6. You're welcome.
They are easy as pie to install. All you need is a phillips-head screwdriver. If you don't have one, you can pick one up at Lowes for a couple dollars. And I'd turn in the receipts to your rental management's office and tell them that you'll be deducting that amount from your rent next month.

7. happened while I was away for Thanksgiving
Friends stopped by to check on and feed my cat of Saturday night and discovered the break in. I'm ok. The cat is still a little bit wigged out. They didn't get much...it looks like something scared them off before they could take much of anything.

8. Yikes!
I've been broken into before and it felt like such a violation. Took me years to get over it (moving from east Riverside helped).
Glad you weren't home. Hugs for you and the kitty!
