1. Episodes without Hiro are never quite as good
I liked how PowerOsmosis Peter was able to untwist himself......

2. I'm glad that we got the "Save the Cheerleader" bit
over with. IMO, the cheerleaders weren't all that important for what could be the big storyline: the fight between Peter and Sylar.

I think the only one that can take on Sylar is the one whose powers are most like him. Both are mimics to an extent. Sylar absorbs his through murder and possible injestion while Peter through close contact. Peter, IMO, is the only one that can really take on Sylar.

I wish they had spent more time w/ that. Peter absorbed Claire's powers but why couldn't he have absorbed Sylar's? Maybe that will be a focus later on. Maybe while he's in jail he'll realize he did absorb a bit.

3. Good point
It might seem like Peter's power puts him at a disadvantage since on his own, he has no other abilities (that we know of yet), but if he were around, say, Sylar and Hiro, he'd be far more dangerous than Sylar. He could freeze time and dish out an ass-whoopin' the likes of which none of the others could even dream about.

What do we know about Sylar's powers so far? The only things I can remember are that he's telekinetic and apparently he can manipulate temperature (the frozen couple in the episode that introduced the mind-reading cop). He got shot in one episode and when he stood up the bullets fell to the floor, but he could've been wearing a bulletproof vest.

6. From what I've gathered,
it's mostly telekinetic. The rest of his powers have had a short-term mimic.

I think that the real reason that Peter had to save the cheerleader was not because of the whole "save the world" bit but rather that if Peter hadn't done so he never would have realized what he could really do. My first thought when I realized he was a mimic was that of what would happen if there were two heroes in the room besides himself. We really learned last night what would happen when he was in the same area as Claire and Sylar-he lived. We don't know as of yet if he can take on the power of more than one at a time, though. Just think of the possibilities!

If he can absorb more than one person's powers at a time than we really don't need anyone else battling Sylar. Sounds silly but you could get a group together and have the slightest bit of contact as he was meeting w/ Sylar. Would he be able to take all of their powers w/ him? And if there is physical contact w/ Sylar would he absorb his powers too?

The extreme aggression/battle tactics of Niki/Jessica, the phasing ability of DL, the possible electronic manipulation of their son Micah (any kind of electronic equipment would be affected, including anything carried on Sylar at the time), the mindreading skills of Matt, the flying abilities of Nathan, the extreme power of suggestion of Eden, the multiple powers of the Haitian, the time bending abilities of Hiro and the rapid healing powers of Claire, along w/ the the thermonuclear and anything else known out there would make him the most powerful person on the planet-and the biggest target of all.

The storyline has led us to believe that everything is about the cheerleader. IMO, it's not. It's all about Peter and I suspect quite a bit of Peter's growth will involve Hiro. IMO, the show is really about Hiro and Peter. All the others will be the supporting cast.

8. I think you're right
I just wonder whan Nathan Petrelli is up to--I know he wanted to protect Peter in last night's episode but Nathan seems almost to want to deny that he has any part to play in anything, despite the fact that his ability to fly could help. (Yeah, he's a politician running for office, but still.)

I keep saying that Hiro seems like he's the only one who "gets it" that he can use his abilities to be a superhero, but BigMcLargehuge makes an excellent point in post #4: Peter is also a hero because he went to save the cheerleader even though he knew there was a possibility he could die in the attempt. Ando even tried to talk him into waiting for Hiro with him in the diner and right before Peter walked out, Ando said, "You die!" and Peter still went.

Monday night used to be my "dead night" wrt to TV-watching, but then Heroes came along and I haven't missed an episode yet! :)

10. I don't think Nathan is evil, per se
but he's not committed by any means. He's human-he'll use what he's got as long as it benefits him. And protecting Peter does benefit him while he's running for office. You know he thought about the headlines.

And I think Peter will be the true Hero of the whole series for the reasons I have stated above. I think Hiro is needed to convince Peter of that fact.

11. it's going to take longer for Nathan to come around
because he's the oldest of the characters and has a high visibility position. But, he will eventually make the transition and embrace who he has to be.

That's my take on it.

Also, is thermonuclear man played by the same guy who does the Geico caveman???

14. I think it is the Geico guy.
And maybe that is why they're creating that character for Eccleston-to help Nathan. From what's been said, he will be the one who has had his powers the longest and will be the oldest of the group. Supposedly he will be someone that could offer help. Of course, they're not telling what his power will be quite yet.

What I'm really waiting for is for Hiro's little freaky Star Trek self to have to interact w/ Takei. Having him play his father lends to so many different one liners that could be used.

28. I think a few weeks ago when they did a 'Heroes' mini-marathon
They showed an extended preview of some of what's to come and iirc there's a shot of Nathan asking Peter, "So how fast do you think we can fly if we fly together?" Don't quote me on it, though. I have it on tape--I'll try to remember to check to make sure when I get home.

I don't really buy it, but with all the time traveling that's going on, you never know.

Like you've said, their powers are similar.

43. That was tossed around,
as was Nathan maybe having an alter ego (like Niki/Jessica) that was Sylar.

We now know that Sylar's been cast and the actor who portray Peter and Sylar are around the same age, which probably discounts the whole "Sylar is (insert Hero here) in the future."

4. that was the best episode so far I think
I especially like the way they are developing the Claire storyline. And Peter Petrelli showed incredible bravery going to the school knowing he was going to die because it was, as Hiro said last week, what Heroes do.

I love, love, love, love this show.

And, according to IMDB, he's 6'1 1/2.

I believe in allowing them their privacy. My friend was more by accident. He said he thought he seemed tall (but my friend wasn't sure since he's 6'8). And his wife told me about his appearance-said his eyes were swoon-worthy.

Supposedly his character is someone who has dealt w/ his powers longer than the others and will be a mentor of sorts for them.

12. Exactly how did saving the cheerleader save the world?
I thought they would answer that question. I am hoping this series will learn from Lost and end one storyline before starting another while still leaving the first unanswered. I would really hate to see us wondering how saving the cheerleader will save the world in the third season.

22. Here's what i think...
Peter's in jail (this causes problems for Nathan, probably in a later episode). Nick and the FBI agent come to interview him because they think he's Sylar (as Jamie's crownless body will suggest). Nick will know from reading Peter's mind that he isn't, and that Claire is special, but he won't tell the woman from the FBI.

Also -

Either Mr. Bennet via Eve and the Haitian mind wiper will intervene, or Claire will, to get Peter out of jail. Probably with Nick's help.

27. Yeah, I know, but (SPOILERS for those who have TiVO'd it but haven't watched it yet)
When Peter was on the roof scuffling with Sylar (and that is the official spelling, according to closed-captioning--yes, I watch shows with closed-captioning on sometimes because I am a dork), and then fell, I thought to myself "Wait a minute! Peter touched Claire, which means that he absorbed her, um... not-getting-killed powers, which means that he's not going to die." And then he didn't, of course.

Also, in the previews: If that one eye is any indication, Sylar is going to be HOT. ...Of course, it's only one eye. The rest of his face could be horribly disfigured or something.

Damn, I love this show. This is one of only two shows that I can think of that I've watched from the pilot (the other one being That 70s Show, although I didn't watch the eighth season of that), and the ONLY show I can think of where I thought "Okay, I have to watch that show" when I saw the previews for it before it debuted, and looked forward to it.

And Peter touched Claire in the hallway so you knew he had absorbed her powers. But think about this-he and Sylar touched numerous times during their scuffle. Has he absorbed Sylar's powers?

And the prevailing theory is that he's borrowed at least a little of Sylar's TK here, since he manages not to get a locker door jammed through his chest.

What an amazing show. I think that is has been too burdened with subplots that don't need the over-explanation the writers seem to think they need. All in all, it's the best show on TV in years. Too bad it hasn't reached the top ten in the ratings. It deserves to be there.
