Anybody make cranberry sauce with Grand Marnier?
For two Thanksgivings in a row, I've had tons of people buying Grand Marnier and telling me it's for a to-die-for cranberry sauce using raspberries and some other stuff which I can never remember because I'm working and can't write down a recipe. A lady today told me she got it from Sunset magazine which I figure I'll try online but if anyone has a recipe, I'd love to try it.

1. All the ones I found are like this one. (Or variations on the orange)
Ingredients:
1 lb. (4 c.) fresh cranberries
1 sm. navel orange
1 - 1 1/2 c. sugar
4 tbsp. Grand Marnier or bourbon

Directions:
Process half the cranberries and half the orange in a food processor. Process the other half of berries and orange (rind included) with the sugar and Grand Marnier. Mix all together. Store in an air tight container in the refrigerator. The longer the sauce soaks up the Grand Marnier the better. 12 servings.

5. I might have to try the Grand Marnier in mine
but this is what I typically make.

1 package fresh cranberries (I believe they're 12 oz.)
1 cup granulated sugar
1 T grated orange peel (If you want to put more in, feel free.)
1/3 cup Triple Sec

Rinse cranberries, pour into saucepan with sugar. Turn heat on medium, stir while sugar and berries form a liquid. Cook to rolling boil (you'll hear the berries breaking in the pan.) Turn off heat. Add Triple Sec, stir through. Sauce will thicken upon standing. Either serve immediately or refrigerate.

This is a simple recipe that turns out so well, we give it as gifts each year.

Julie

9. Does the Grand Marnier make it taste very alcohol-y?
my hubby doesn't drink and I'm wondering if it would be terribly noticeable?

10. I have no idea
I know that Grand Marnier is an orange liqueur but have never made this. I'd be curious too.

7. Sounds like a good idea!
I'll be doing the cranberry sauce for this year's feast and will be making at least two varieties. One sweetened with sugar, the other with Splenda. I may need to make it four varieties including the Grand Marnier laced samples.
