I need to know how to repair

two small rips in a convertible top on an old car.

My thought is to just take some material and sew it on.

Are there any glues that would hold? Any other ideas?

1. Camping equipment stores sell a tape for

repaiting tent holes.The stuff is made of Kevlar and is damn near indestructible.It is specificly made for outdoor use so it should work pretty good on a convertable top.
