I know we're all pretty tapped out with the elections. Probably if you're like me, you've found a way to put together a few extra dollars to help out someone who was so close to winning.
I've been here since almost the beginning (May 2001) and when the world seem insane and crashing around me with the political stunts of the Bush Regime, I always knew there would be the Democratic Underground there for me to rant, to cry, to hung and to remind myself that there was hope in this insane world.
After the 2002 and 2004 elections, I swore our party was dead and yet I'd come to DU and there would be people already plotting how we're gonna come back even stronger in 2006.
I've met so many of you; some of you I consider as some of my closest friends. But others I'm sure I've butted heads from time to time, I'm a confirmed GD/GDPer who will butt heads with other democrats who might not have the same point of view as I do. But even in agreement or disagreement, I realize that we are doing this in order to better our party and get rid of the common enemy - the republican party.
So the fact that we only have 571 contributions and it's Thursday. I'm thinking that there is some exhaustion from the elections and that some of us have given so much to so many campaigns. But just because we've gotten the majority, now is not the time to sit back on our laurels and rest. We can all find a few extra dollars, even if it's just $5-10, to contribute to DU for this weeks fundraiser. We need to keep this website running because it's gonna get really bad the next two years and repukes try to find a way to get back their congress AND keep the white house.
So come on everyone - find it in your heart to chip in a few dollars!
