I wanted to have full size spare tires for both cars, so this morning I dropped off two newly bought used rims and two (supposedly) reasonably good tires at my local service station for mounting, valve stems, balancing, etc. I just got a call from the mechanic - the tire for mine was okay but the one had a gouge in the sidewall.
Last month we bought two new tires at a HORRIBLE tire shop from hell, after Mrs. UBP's Mama-van hit a pothole and blew out the right rear. At the time, I asked them to be sure and give me back the GOOD tire so I could use it as a spare...and Guess What? They gave me the bad one with the cut in the sidewall back instead. We got the new tires almost a month ago, so the chances are very good that our almost new Bridgestone is now adorning someone else's hoopdee.
I dunno - I guess it was my own fault for not taking the tire guy into the bathroom, holding his head in the toilet, flushing it, and screaming "LEFT REAR!!! LEFT REAR!!" at the top of my lungs to make sure he got the correct tire back to us.
Sheesh...
