The time you spend on DU
Does your significant other give you a hard time about it?

What would you be doing otherwise?

I spend way too much time reading on this site. I could have built a mansion on the moon in the time I've spent here.

1. She's pretty understanding.
It's kind of like having an invisible friend.

2. In my time here.
I helped to expose the lies of a corrupt corporation, shined light on their misdeeds and became a candidate. My SO is so on board now.

3. Yes
He was shocked to see how many posts that I had too. He has threatened to block this site from my computer. I have tried to cut back when he is around and might want to spend time with me.

6. Yes
There have been words. I suppose being a mindless drone in front of the TV like 90% of the US would be better.
Certainly, not being a full human being would be even better.
Even better, no thoughts of my own.

Oh yes, there are issues, but I don't back down anymore. I need soemthing outside my little world to remind me to keep thinking outside the box and that thinking outside the box is actually a good thing.

like right now - it's football - while I learn what's going on and fill him in later. We call me the "braintrust" of our marriage :)

13. Nope, mine's not an ass
well...maybe sometimes. But for the most part he's a great partner and he listens to all the info I acquire - and will usually engage in conversation - he's not as passionate as I am though, so sometimes it gets frustrating when he's not willing to engage. He gets tired of the negativity sometimes. That's when I turn to DU or my other passionate like-minded friends. I can't force it on him, and it took me awhile to realize that. Now that I do, and now that I have other outlets, things are going better.

12. We have definitely had words...
my wife considers the time I spend here a frivolous waste of time. Many times, when I have tried to tell her what is happening in the world (mostly from LBN), she tells me that she can't be bothered with that stuff, because she is tired of hearing it. Fortunately for us both, she is currently working in Louisiana (for the next two years), and doesn't have to put up with my rantings about the economy, the fake war for oil, *, *'s faux administration, etc. I keep telling her that if we don't pay attention now, then when we do, it will be too late. We don't agree.
