Oh oh, Pearl Harbour has the old man's dander up
He had hunkered down with pop-corn to watch a war movie. Upon discovering it is a love story the phrase "goddamnit! what is this crap" rang out numerous times. "Start the shootin'" was another prelavent phrase. Dad's not a freeper...he just likes war movies

This xmas week has been bad movie after bad movie for me. Ugh!

1. I agree with your Dad.
Some good action scenes that were too brief, otherwise it was :boring:

2. My Dad was pissed about it too when we saw it.
My folks were with us for Christmas last year and it came on HBO or whatever one night. No one had seen it and thought it would be a nice movie for the evening. Same reaction from my Dad. I fell asleep. Too long for what they accomplished as far as I'm concerned.

3. Did not bother with it
after all when I saw the scene of the American Pilots flying during the Battle of Britain in 1940, with P-40s my BS alarm went off the scale.

We had NO American Pilots flyng American planes during the Battle of Britan. The few American Volunteeers flew Hawker Hurricanes or Spitsfires, and gee golly, WORE british uniforms

After that I did not even bother to go to either the theater or wathh it or rent it.

My hubby watched during Wespac and was ammused by the modern Corvette in the background... a Ticonderoga Class I believe

9. It was a Tico class cruiser
But yeahthat was some funny shit. When I was on a training cruise in college, prolly about 3 years before the movie came out, the admiral they had hired to be a military advisor told me flat otu not to see it, that they had ignored every peice of advice he had given them. Ha

10. What about......
The fighter pilots at Pearl went on the Dolittle raid as bomber pilots? The pilot with a stutter? I wish they would TRY to make it believable!

15. American volunteers did fly
in Europe and China before PH, but they were technically not in US service. The Flying Tigers or American Volunteer Group fought under the Chinese Flag and the Americans with the RAF fought as Brits or Canucks.

6. "Pearl Harbor" sucked.
Rent him "Tora Tora Tora" to make up for it.

Tora tora tora is great because it sticks to the story of PH, doesn't dick arond with obnoxious subplots

7. LOL...Your dad is right...
That was one truly Godawful movie. I can't believe I went to see that thing in the theatre.

I came out feeling empty and cheated...Like I had wasted time watching a "Titanicized" war flick.

12. Wow, what a deal
http://www.westegg.com/inflation/

according to this,$1 in 1941 bought what $12.34 would buy in 2002.

14. I did the same thing watching Pearl Harbor
I kept saying 'where is the fighting? I want to see an air raid!'

Face it, PH is not all that except for the really well filmed scenes that deal with the attack itself.
