Which coast do you prefer? (pics)
Pic 1 was taken last week on Monterey Bay in California. Pic 2 was taken 18 months ago in the Outer Banks of NC. Which do you prefer? The landscape is more dramatic in California but I really like the isolation of the Outer Banks. If there's interest I have lots more pics of both places.

1. I'm biased 'cause I lived in CA,
but I'd like to spend some time on the east coast. Seems romantic.

6. I love the Outer Banks
I live in the middle of NC but thanks to the magic of air travel it takes roughly the same amount of time to get to California as it does to get to the Outer Banks, which require lots of driving on isolated roads and a long ferry ride.

3. Those are both beautiful pics
I love both coasts and the character changes depending on what part of them you visit. The Oregon coast reminded me a lot of the Maine coast which I've always loved - rather rough and wild and rocky. As a kid, we used to go to Hampton Beach, New Hampshire and the smell of salt and fishiness is strong there - here in central California, it smells fresher and cleaner. The Gulf coast when I lived in Alabama was a different thing entirely but beautiful and interesting as well.

I just love the ocean and coast everywhere I've been.

A bit east of it, methinks.

Guess whether or not it's near Lover's Point depends on your definition of near

11. Then what's the other... oh
The coastline in the distance would be the north side of Carmel Bay, then, huh?

9. Partial to OBX, since I live here
Ahh. If things work out, I'll see the OBX again around Thanksgiving. *sigh*

But I would love to visit Monterey and the rest of the CA coast sometime.

12. So, did you have a good time in Monterey?
I like both coasts for different reasons. I like the drama of the Northern California Coast and the fact that I can walk on the beach most of the year. I'm partial to the Atlantic Coast because the water is more accessible (fewer rips, sneaker waves, etc) and it's more familiar because I was raised there.

14. I'd have to say OBX because
I lived in SF for 10 years and saw the beaches maybe three or four times. Freezing cold!
i enjoyed the warmth of the east cost especially the Florida Keys

15. West Coast....
I too am biased since I live in CA. The drive up Pacific Coast Hwy. from Southern Ca. up to the bay area is beautiful beyond belief.

16. Well, you left off the Florida Panhandle Gulf Coast...
Sand so white it'll bring tears to your eyes and so fine it squeaks under your feet. Water bathtub warm and Caribbean green.
