Today in history 10-30
1976 - Led Zeppelin announce that they will embark on another world tour. However, the tour is later postponed due to Robert Plant's tonsillitis.

The other members find a fill-in for Robert by tying a microphone to a cat's face and swinging it around by the tail. Robert nixes the idea saying "A cat can't say "baby baby baby baby baby""

Kitty misses the Plant gig

2004 - An arrest warrant was issued for Motley Crue singer Vince Neil after he allegedly knocked a soundman unconscious during a concert. Neil was said to have punched Michael Talbert in the face at Gilley's nightclub in Dallas after he asked the soundman for more volume on his guitar but attacked Talbert as he adjusted it, leaving him unconscious for 45 seconds.

Vince fancies himself one of rock's bad boys and has been quoted as saying "I ain't ascared of nobody". In fact on the reality show, "The Surreal Life", Vince almost "beat the living shit" out of Emmanuel Lewis because Emmanuel drank Neil under the table.

Below, picture of the "soundman" that Vince punched out:

Happy Birthday to Grace Slick of the Jefferson Airplane. She is 67 today.

Grace isn't doing much of feeding her head these days, and I think her outlaw days are over. She can be found on the "has beens" circuit as seen in the photo below, hanging with tough guy (see above) Vince Neil.

Also, Happy Birthday to Timothy B Schmit (59)

Schmit is often referred to as "That other dude in the Eagles".

1990 - Guns N' Roses singer Axl Rose was released on $10,000 bail, after being arrested for allegedly hitting a neighbor over the head with a bottle. The incident happened after a complaint to the police about loud music coming from the singers house.

Since that day, Axl has been in at least 75 more altercations such as stated above, but managed to stay out of the headlines because..well, no one gives a rat's ass what Axl does.

1967 - Happy Birthday to Gavin Rossdale.

Who would have thought that all it took was a half-ass hit song (and nothing else since) to be able to get with Gwen Stefani?

Sorry Gavin, I looked and looked, but I just couldn't find a picture of ya.
Hi Gwen...How YOU doin?

1978 - Kiss' Phantom of the Park premiers on NBC. It is the first (and last) full length movie made by Kiss.

The movie finally answered the question, does Kiss suck at everything they do?

1938 - The radio play ''The War of the Worlds,'' starring Orson Welles, aired on CBS. The live drama, which employed fake news reports, panicked some listeners who thought its portrayal of a Martian invasion was true.

Since that day, October 30th is officially known as "National Shit your pants day".

1976 - This was the second night the musicians were together in the Jungle Room for a RCA recording session. They recorded a couple of instrumental tracks while waiting for Elvis to appear. Finally Elvis did, but only for a short time while there was a delivery of a shipment of Harley - Davidsons. Elvis insisted to take them for trial runs up and down the driveway and to Linda's home, just around the corner. After that Elvis appeared again in the Jungle Room, but now he had a Thompson submachine with him to play with. Finally, it was almost morning, he apologized to the group admitting he was not in the good mood to record anything. So the session was called off. Elvis arranged for all the musicians a ride home, even went so far to give J.D. Sumner his white limousine to ride back to Nashville in style.

I really have no comment except that Elvis was one flipped out dude.

Below, the Jungle Room at Graceland

And Elvis doin his thang

2002 - Jam Master Jay from Run-DMC was murdered by an assassin's single bullet at his recording studio in Queens, New York.

Some reports have it that the assassination was the result of Run-DMC's contribution in getting Aerosmith back into the music scene. After hearing the same song from Aerosmith with different words so many times, it is bound to make *somebody* snap.

Below, Jam Master Jay in happier times

A happy Birthday to John Adams, 2nd president of the United States.

If President Adams was alive today he would be...really fucking old.

1972 - A command performance was given for the Queen of England by Elton John.

It wasn't until many years later that Elton was also named "Queen of England". It brought a whole new meaning to the lyrics "I'm not the man they think I am at home. Oh no no no... I am a rocket man".

Especially the bit about the cat.

Timothy B. Schmit trivia:
He is the professional understudy to Randy Meisner. When Meisner left the band Poco to join the Eagles, Schmit was his replacement. When Meisner left the Eagles, Schmit was hired to take his place once again. He has never been seen in public, but to be fair, no one would notice anyway.

6. And all this time I thought the Eagles were those other guys
that hung out with Joe Walsh and were allowed to play backup to his awesome guitar leads.

Timothy B Schmidt? Wasn't he on some dollar coins recently?
