6. Well, ya know,
I still love all but one of the men who preceded Call Me Wesley in my life, and after some time, it became clear to me that maybe those men were in my life to be my friends-for-life, rather than husbands or boyfriends, and the same for them. I'm a better person because of them, and that was worth the pain involved. :hi:

8. I know.
That's one of the reasons I don't drink red wine (besides the fact that it tastes like Vicks Formula 44-D to me.)

3. It also stinks
You love her
But she loves him
And he loves somebody else
You just can't win
And so it goes
Till the day you die
This thing they call love
It's gonna make you cry
I've had the blues
The reds and the pinks
One thing for sure

(Love stinks)
Love stinks yeah yeah
(Love stinks)
Love stinks yeah yeah
(Love stinks)
Love stinks yeah yeah
(Love stinks)
Love stinks yeah yeah

Two by two and side by side
Love's gonna find you yes it is
You just can't hide
You'll hear it call
Your heart will fall
Then love will fly
It's gonna soar
I don't care for any casanova thing
All I can say is
Love stinks

(Love stinks)
Love stinks yeah yeah
(Love stinks)
Love stinks yeah yeah
(Love stinks)
Love stinks yeah yeah
(Love stinks)
Love stinks yeah yeah

I've been through diamonds
I've been through minks
I've been through it all
Love stinks

(Love stinks)
Love stinks yeah yeah
(Love stinks)
Love stinks yeah yeah
(Love stinks)
Love stinks yeah yeah
(Love stinks)
Love stinks yeah yeah

10. The hounds of love are hunting:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CUBuzq0x_0

This always fortifies me for the next round of exquisite torture. The fact that I've loved Kate Bush for over twenty years with unswerving passion is neither here nor there. But anyway...

Hounds Of Love Lyrics - Kate Bush

"It's in the trees!
It's coming!"

When I was a child:
Running in the night,
Afraid of what might be

Hiding in the dark,
Hiding in the street,
And of what was following me...

Now hounds of love are hunting
I've always been a coward,
And I don't know what's good for me.

(Well) Here I go!
It's coming for me through the trees.
Help me, someone!
Help me, please!

Take my shoes off,
And (i will) throw them in the lake,
And I'll be
Two steps on the water.

I found a fox
Caught by dogs.
He let me take him in my hands.

His little heart,
It beats so fast,
And I'm ashamed of running away

From nothing real--
I just can't deal with this,
But I'm still afraid to be there,

Among your hounds of love,
And feel your arms (surrounding) me.
I've always been a coward,
I never know what's good for me.

(well),here I go!
Don't let me go!
Hold me down!
It's coming for me through the trees.
Help me, darling
Help me, please!

Take my shoes off
And throw them in the lake,
And I'll be
Two steps on the water.

I don't know what's good for me.
I don't know what's good for me.
I need your love love love love love, yeah!
Your love!

Take your shoes off
And throw them in the lake!

Do you know what I really need?
Do you know what I really need?
I need love love love love love, yeah!

...with a fellow Kate lover.

Kate wanted to set Molly Bloom's stream-of-consciousness speech from Joyce's Ulysses (as magical and sensual a piece of writing as there has ever been) to music, but couldn't get permission from the Joyce estate. So she rewrote it. And it's simply beautiful. What a wonderous woman.

The Sensual World - Kate Bush

Mmh, yes,

Then I'd taken the kiss of seedcake back from his mouth
Going deep south, go down, mmh, yes,
Took six big wheels and rolled our bodies
Off of Howth Head and into the flesh, mmh, yes,

He said I was a flower of the mountain, yes,
But now Ive powers over a womans body, yes.

Stepping out of the page into the sensual world.
Stepping out...

To where the water and the earth caress
And the down of a peach says mmh, yes,
Do I look for those millionaires
Like a Machiavellian girl would
When I could wear a sunset? mmh, yes,

And how we'd wished to live in the sensual world
You dont need words--just one kiss, then another.

Stepping out of the page into the sensual world
Stepping out, off the page, into the sensual world.

And then our arrows of desire rewrite the speech, mmh, yes,
And then he whispered would I, mmh, yes,
Be safe, mmh, yes, from mountain flowers?
And at first with the charm around him, mmh, yes,
He loosened it so if it slipped between my breasts
Hed rescue it, mmh, yes,
And his spark took life in my hand and, mmh, yes,
I said, mmh, yes,
But not yet, mmh, yes,
Mmh, yes.

14. DUers Call Me Wesley and khashka are big Kate Bush fans, too.
They're gonna love you for this.

My favorite Kate Bush song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMDX8JSeqxk&mode=related&search=

Cloudbusting
I still dream of Organon.
I wake up cryin'.
You're making rain,
And you're just in reach,
When you and sleep escape me.

You're like my yo-yo
That glowed in the dark.
What made it special
Made it dangerous,
So I bury it
And forget.

But every time it rains,
You're here in my head,
Like the sun coming out--
Ooh, I just know that something good is gonna happen.
And I don't know when,
But just saying it could even make it happen.

On top of the world,
Looking over the edge,
You could see them coming.
You looked too small
In their big, black car,
To be a threat to the men in power.

I hid my yo-yo
In the garden.
I can't hide you
From the government.
Oh, God, Daddy--
I won't forget.

'Cause every time it rains,
You're here in my head,
Like the sun coming out--
Ooh, I just know that something good is gonna happen.
And I don't know when,
But just saying it could even make it happen.

It's you and me, Daddy.

It's you and me... Daddy---

It's you and me... Daddy---

E-yeah yeah yeah yeah yo-ohhhhhhhhhh

And every time it rains
You're here in my head
Like the sun coming out.
Your son's coming out.
Ooh, I just know that something good is gonna happen.
And I don't know when,
But just saying it could even make it happen.

Ooo-ohh, just saying it could even make it happen.

I'm Couldbusting Daddy.

Your son's coming out.
Your son's coming out.

15. Oh God. I cry all the way through that song.
Edited on Sun Oct-29-06 06:47 AM by Kutjara
It's not only a beautiful elegy to Wilhelm Reich and his son, but makes me think of my relationship with my own late father.

"You're like my yoyo
That glows in the dark.
What makes it special,
Makes it dangerous.
So I bury it."

Christ, that one always hits me hard.

I've tried to find David (?) Reich's biography, but it's been out of print for ages.

I'm sure you've seen the video she made for the song's release:

16. We have a biography of Reich.
I think it's this one, but I'm too lazy to run upstairs and check.

17. It's not that one.
It's one written by Reich's son (who Kate plays in the video with Donald Sutherland as Reich). The book she sees in his pocket is actually the book her character will write later in life. It's a beautiful and tragic portrayal of a son's love for a driven and eccentric man. Kate read it and immediately fell in love with not only Reich, but the father/son relationship. The song is really about Peter Reich's (not David, I remember now) ideal of his father.

Peter's autobiography was called "A Book of Dreams."
