2. Neat. Looks a little like a pilot's halo.
Sometime you can see one when you see the shadow of your airplane on top of an overcast below.
If you look very closely you get a glimpse of one in this clip:

has a corridor facing roughly east-west, and there are two afternoons a year, one in November and one in January, when the setting sun beams right in the window at the western end of the corridor and shines all the way down.

Unfortunately I never got to see it. I worked there for five autumns/winters, and I think every one of those days was overcast.
