I HAD THE STRANGEST DREAM- INTERPRET AT WILL!

I had the weirdest dream last night. There was a huge tent in the middle of my town, and my brother and I were going around collecting beach balls off the beach, some were small and others were HUGE. one of them I had to walk into the big tent and tie it to a rope so it wouldn't float away, kind of like a balloon. Then I remember in another segment of the dream, I was sitting in like this cafe place with my brother and Nicole Kidman walks in. There were some other people with us, and we stood there talking to Nicole Kidman...

I seriously have no idea what this means. Help. I don't even like Nicole Kidman! :D

nothing more than random brain firings from daily stimuli, however I'd rather interpret your dream. It makes it even more fun since I don't know you.

The huge tent represents wishes for inclusion.

Collecting beach balls represents how difficult it is to really have a solid group together in said huge tent.

On Nicole Kidman: what does she mean to you? I understand you wrote you don't even like her. But, she is:

1. beautiful
2. big star
3. has awards

but also

4. went through a devastating break-up

which

5. caused her to blossom


I think you are a beautiful person who wants harmony (huge tent) for the world; you may have been through something or are going through something painful, but you will come out of it a much better person, a star in your chosen field...and in life itself.

the tent is a symbol of your erection and the balls are quite obvious, are they not? Your brother is there for one of two reasons: your unquenched desires toward him or because you see him as a threat to your phallic strength, which is why the significance of the bigger and smaller tents figres so prominently in your dream. Nicole Kidman enters the picture as part of this battle over your conflicted desire: she stands between you and your brother as a figure of desire, but this is a triangulated desire: one can only want "Nicole" as a function of one's desire toward the brother/self. A classic Girardian schema.

9. I always liked the old Fritz Perls method

for "interpreting" dreams.

Paraphrasing:

Every element of the dream is obviously part of you, since the dream is totally inside your head. So, take any one thing in the dream and tell the story of the dream IN THE FIRST PERSON from the point of view of that thing. In this dream you would tell the story of the dream as if you are the tent, or one of the balls, or all the balls, or the beach, etc. etc.

You can do this more than once, from the point of view of different things in the dream. The secret is to tell it using "I" and "me," while role-playing the object. It takes a minute to catch on, but once you get going it can be interesting and fun, at least a neat parlor game. Sometimes you can get some very revealing insights doing this.
