Miracles do happen - Evita allowed someone other than ME to pet her
I was absolutely shocked I tell ya.

Evita has to be the most difficult cat you'll ever met, but then again the poor girl had to live 3 years on the mean streets of Dover, DE until she was trapped and I, against my better judgement, adopted her.

After 2 years of co-existing in the same home with her, she has finally allowed me to pet her although I have to be sitting on the sofa and she'll be on the back of the sofa. She once has cuddled a few minutes with me on the sofa but that hasn't happened again.

So my parents were visiting on Sunday and as usually both Evita and Abbott hid. But Abbott is pretty slow, so I grabbed him, gave him to my stepfather and within 2 minutes Abbott was purring up a storm.

So I guess Evita was curious about what was happening, came out of hiding and jumped up on her usual spot on the back of the sofa and would you believe my stepfather had her purring too.

She has never done that - she hates everyone, me she just tolerates.

This was a major breakthrough for her!

1.  Maybe a little jealousy kicked in.

She didn't want to miss out on anything. A big break through for her it sounds.

5. You have to see how amazing she looks
When I adopted her she was a bit undersized and had this kinda dingy grey hair. She's now put on 2lbs and her hair is absolutely fabulous - it's not like regular cat hair, it's way softer than that. If she was a purebred (and she looks to have Nebelung in her) she'd be a champion!

BTW - Nebelungs:

Evita:

She has the same head, tail and everything like a Nebelung

7. Even if she's not a purebred, she's gorgeous.
You're a good person for what you've done with her. :)

9. I'm glad I stuck it out
The first year, you don't know how many times I thought I should just return her. Abbott was my first indoor cat so I had no idea that it could be this challenging. But I knew if she ever got returned she'd probably have a miserable life (if she was kept alive) back out on the mean streets of Dover, DE. So I put up with it and finally she's starting to return the love!

3. She'd probably let me pet her.
Most "untouchable" cats let me. I have a gift or something.
