I admit it. I'm a nickist.
There are certain users I won't reply to, no matter how interesting I think their posts are. Not because I dislike them, but because of the futility, they never respond to my replies anyway.

I'm a nickist. I'm not proud of it, but I am.

phfffffft!

3. I don't "keep track" in the sense of knowing numbers, however, the
pattern is evident after a while

2. the perceptual apparatus of the human mind
makes us essentially "pattern recognition" machines.

and that's what i do. recognize patterns.

jargon? I was wondering the same thing myself...about people who just "don't talk" to me. After awhile I get the hint and just sorta keep to myself. Isn't this how cliques get formed?
It is not that I refused to them but, I don't want to bother someone who can't be bothered:shrug:

I try to be respectful of everyone who has reponded in one of my threads. However, sometimes a post is made that requires no comment...it stands alone, as it were

11. Nah, I just made nickist up on the fly.
I certainly don't expect answers to most of my posts. Heck, the majority of the threads I start end up with no replies. However, after a while, you know which ones are fruitless, perhaps you're on ignore, or they just don't care what you say, so why clutter up their threads?

ignore for a couple of days. Then I realized I was missing out on "ALL" that DU has to offer. I want to experience it all. If I get offended by something then perhaps I have cause to reflect on that part of myself and come to a better understanding of myself and my views. So, now I never put anyone on ignore. I don't want blinders on...after all as wildhorses they would just be tossed off ;)

but, I know what you mean about not repsonding. I may read the thread but, I won't comment in it cos they are not interested in what I have to say anyway.

precisely. And as far as ignore, I only use it when I'm about to say
something mean to someone due to they've said. I'm not particularly tactful, and generally just say what I mean. Ignore protects me from my own character flaws, in a sense. I put them on ignore for a day or two and then take them off when I've calmed down on the subject.

reflect on that part of myself and introspectively grow as a human being and possibly expand my horizons. Difference in me and you is that you use the ignore feature whereas I have learned to constrain myself and just REFUSE to reply. Every once in a while I "rise to the bait" but, I am learning tolerance...and building my character while working on my flaws. I try to see it as an oppurtunity for growth.

thanks for this thread:loveya:

22. putting people on ignore also
prevents you from keeping tabs on them . . . it's interesting to watch patterns develop.

plus if i ignored all the posters i'd like to ignore, i'd miss out on 16.32% of the fun i have here.
