Edited on Wed Oct-04-06 06:42 PM by YellowRubberDuckie
He wanted to know if was only because of the social policies, and I was like no. I also like the fact that they don't call for the heads of those they don't agree with. So, it brings me to the point of this thread. Why are you a democrat, in full detail, leaving out the obvious social policy answers.

1. Because I hate America and want to destroy our freedoms.
Also, I want the government to confiscate all guns and Bibles to prepare this nation for the invasion of U.N. black helicopters and the establishment of the One World Government.

Did I mention I eat babies?

I know that answer is snarky, but really it's the best answer that particular question deserves.

8. I just enjoy being a burden on society, a bad example and
collecting all those big bucks Uncle Sugie gives me in social security and the military pension and I didn't do a damn thing to earn 'em either. Snerk.

Oh yeah, I also attend lesbian orgies, then get a quickie abortion. I sneak up on unsuspecting kids and whisper in their ears, "You know, the human species evolved from a primate and the earth revolves around the sun."

And when I'm feeling really out there, I'll say aloud, "The Bill of Rights is a damn good thing."

13. I actually considered myself a swing voter until Bush came along.
Most of the time I voted for dems, but I did vote for bush 41 the first time he ran. I like to say that george bush turned me into a democrat. He just had IDIOT stamped on his forehead. I vowed never to vote for any goper ever again. Now I just vote straight dem, even if I have no idea who I am voting for on some issues. I also look back on the Clinton years and see how much better I was doing financially back then (as well as everyone else.) Mr borlis and I are still bringing in about 10k less a year than in the mid 90's.

19. I do not consider myself a Democrat
even though I am on the County Board. That does not mean I will always vote for the Democrat without looking at the candidates. Heck, in Kansas, I am not sure we even have any Democrats. The Democratic party candidates here are really moderate Republicans. That still ends up being a far, far better choice than the far-right Republicans, although supposedly the moderates won big in the recent Republican primary. Still, I look at their candidate for Governor, and what is his platform? - tax cuts, primarily for rich people, and also for corporations. But that is kinda the obvious social policy answer, but what better choice is there for an aware member of the lower working class?

21. I am a Democrat because
I don't hate gays
I don't hate non-Christians
I don't hate Iraqis
I don't hate the poor
I don't hate the French
I don't hate America
I don't hate freedom-of-speech
I don't hate the Constitution

I'm a Democrat because I don't hate.

23. Primarily because I was raised that way
I was taught (with examples) that folks with money want just as much - if not more - from Government as do those with little.

I am a Democrat because Democrats do not believe that Government is evil. I think a main reason Republicans so thoroughly stink at Governance is that most Republicans with half a brain will NOT enter Public Service - unless they can make a buck from it.

There's also the fact that I grew up, and still live, in a heavily Democratic County in a pretty Democratic state and, as a result, I drive on excellent roads and enjoy superior public schools.
