Today I ran into Alan Hale of Hale-Bopp comet fame, at the Kucinich apearance here in Las Cruces. I've known Alan for a couple of years so we had a good time catching up.
Anyway, Alan is in the proces of a creating the "Earthrise Project" whose aim is globally interconnect students to colloborate and share their common humanity through the science of astronony.
To that end, Alan is holding a fund-raising raffle. Prizes will include autographed books by the Asimovs, Arthure C. Clarke, Gordon Cooper, etc. THE DRAWING IS DECEMBER 24, so check below: Alan will take a phone or email pledge so you can enter.
But the GRAND PRIZE is a classic Edmund Scientific telescope from the mid-1960's in mint condition autographed by Star Trek cast members at the recent El Paso Star Trek Convention including:
Eugene Roddenberry, Jr (son of Star Trek creator Gene)
Wiliam Shatner
James Doohan
Nichelle Nichols
George Takei
Walter Koenig
Tim Russ
and several other Star Trek actors as well as Michael David Ward, renowned space artists) and Alan Hale, co-discoverer of Hale-Bopp.
Each ticket is $10.00 and Alan will take a 'pledge' via email if you want to buy a ticket and enter the drawing.
