2. I work for a state agency that does the same thing.

And 50% of the employees of this agency are part-time, no benefits workers.

7. Well you see it is like this
they have to have the VP of this and the VP of that and all the little smaller assistant VP's because they have to keep the business executives thing going. Everyone knows that they are few execs who make any real difference but you see if they aren't fat with VP then two things happen

first- the competition for those MBA schools would get really tight and the "early admission" crowd might be found out as nothing but the good old boy network meaning that some young "from no where" upstarts might start out positioning themselves for those slots.

second-if you don't have a lot of slots for the VPs the old VPs who get fired in corporate paradigm shifts won't have anywhere to go and well see the first thing that could happen.

On a more serious note (only slightly more serious) see Lewis Powell's memo it explains everything that was to follow (except for conquering the news media thing) in the coming decades-401K, dutiful subserviance to your job and to the wealthy, tax cuts for the rich, outsourcing, the whole thing.

9. we've gone through that and back again over the last two years
we hired on a new "Chief Operating Officer" who used to be a management consultant. She hired on a dozen of her pals to fill in the Operating Leadership Team, which displaced more than a few good managers who've been in the biz for decades. Revenue has steadily declined, and all but one of the OLT have been fired or left due to attrition (after collecting massive salaries for a year or so). The COO downgraded herself back to Management Consultant but still runs the place like the COO.

I'm in hell.
