I love hanging out at diners late at night
I did that last night or rather this morning with some friends. We went to a show last night that featured some local bands and when it ended did not feel like going home, so where is the next logical place to go?...the diner! Nothing like discussing religion, politics and guy troubles over greasy breakfast foods and coffee. We left at 3am because one friend had to get up at 8 am but we would have been content to sit there another hour. The best thing about it all is as we were walking out at 3am a steady stream of people were still walking in. Yep there's something comforting about late night bull sessions at the diner...I don't think I could ever live in a place that doesn't have 24 hour diners.

Hanging out in diners late at night is genetic to us. I feel bad for people that live in places with only Denny's and shit like that.

2. No doubt
I can think of at least 5 all night diners that aren't chains that are within 10 minutes of my house. The one we went to last night we picked because they have the best pies and cake

3. I miss diners SOOO much
Every diner makes amazing tuna melts and malted milks-- fucking amazing. And I've never had a bad cup of coffee at a diner too :9

I have to take my SO to one before I move from the east coast, as he has yet to experience the divinity of a NJ diner.

4. its something you must do at least once in life
you can't really explain the experience to that person...you just have to be there. Right down to the waitresses

5. how do you explain the menus?
The generic diner menu...

There's a great diner we used to go to in Astoria, NYC, but he hasn't been to A JERSEY diner.

I miss Mike's Diner...we could get 2 huge dinners for like 15 bucks. We always tipped well so they always gave us free cheesecake :)

Love the Greeks.

12. I'm always overwhelmed when I look at a diner menu
which probably explains why I only get like one of five things everytime I go

15. that's quite similar to my choices
just substitute the omelet(I can't eat eggs...they make me really sick for some reason) with pork roll and cheese on a kaiser and the french toast with waffles and it's a perfect match.

6. Often times I think the waitresses that almost seem to truly hate you
are the best ones.

7. One of my favorite things to do!!
When I was younger, a couple of friends of mine and I would always end up at this Denny's that was near a bunch of the bars and clubs. We called it "the Zoo" because it was usually packed at 2:00am and the characters we saw there were quite entertaining.

I'll bet we solved all of the world's problems sitting in a booth at Denny's, drinking cup after cup after cup of coffee.

Now, since I am middle aged and don't go to clubs anymore, I meet my best friend for breakfast on Sunday mornings and we solve the problems then.
