I'm curious as to your opinions about the community here at DU, vs the community at Daily Kos. How are they different? What do they have in common? WHat do you like about DU that Daily Kos doesn't have? What do you like about Daily Kos that DU doesn't have? Let's hear your thoughts!
I never really have. I've tried, but (I hope I don't get killed for saying this) I don't like that whole 'cult of personality' thing anyway and it seems like Kos was like that from the beginning. I've never been one to put my trust in the perception of just one person.
isn't daily kos sort of like half-way between a blog and message board, considering everything it does to encourage people to make comments in the same way they would do on a message board?
But I am strictly a lurker there. It is a great place to visit but I don't enjoy hanging out there.
I feel that at DU there is more a sense of community. Not to say that there isn't one at Kos. It probably just comes down to personal preference and I prefer the atmosphere at DU.
Daily kos has great essayists, and the "blog" format helps good essayists become noticed. But I think it has a little too much of a "star" system, which hurts the community feel. DU's message board format is more community oriented.
