Anyone see the documentary "the God Who Wasn't There?"
I watched it today with a friend of mine. It was an interesting, albeit short (1 hour & 2 min) documentary, by a former fundamentalist Christian. It was rather amusing and thought provoking.

1. yes.
I agree it was too short partly the length and partly because it was so entertaining. The good thing is you can easily watch it again and catch all the stuff you missed the first time.

Great documentary and, as you said, very thought provoking.

2. I didn't dare attempt to watch it with my husband.
He would have hated it. I needed an Agnostic, Atheist, or at least open-minded partner to watch it with! Some of that footage was hilarious.

3. I watched it with my wife...
but she's leaning agnostic. It really made her think. You're right, it was hilarious.

4. Yes,
I loved it. I was raised Southern Baptist and escaped at 12.

I have no idea if there is a God, but I'm pretty sure that no entity that could create the universe would be as childish, cruel, and self centered as the being described in the Bible.

6. My friend noted that the guy (Fleming?) seemed to be rather
"angry," but I can see, considering his personal experiences at the Christian school (among other things) why he might be. I thought he did a fine job of tackling a complicated, controversial subject, with a strategic injection of humor. It made me glad I never knew that kind of upbringing; although I recognize that it's important to realize the roots of some of the fundamentalists' "craziness."

7. No, but I'm WAITING for that cinematic enigma to make it to MN
theaters! I'm dragging my husband to that, whether he likes it or not.

8. Me
Just watched it a couple weeks ago. I think the length of the film spent on the interview with the former principal vs. the other materials left it quite unbalanced. I could have cared less about the personal confrontation and wanted more information generally speaking.

9. Hmm. I could agree with that.
It wasn't the most satisfying ending, admittedly. I found the historic info. more compelling.
