How long can a "what's the worst film ever" thread go
before someone mentions

Citizen Kane
Lord of the Rings
Gone with the Wind
Casablanca

or

Star Wars

I'm guessing five posts, tops.

2. Gone With the Wind sucks
And Star Wars blows. Worst film ever.

I'd say two.

4. It is a simple fact of life
No matter how great something may be, someone will call it the worst.

I can agree that maybe not all of us can enjoy something to the same level. But for anyone to call what are the greatest films, the worst films, is obviously stupid.

For instance, I do not like Gone with the Wind. But I would not call it the worst wretched waste of celluloid in film history. I would just say I have trouble with some of the characters and its depictions of the life of slaves and leave it at that.

But it is a good looking film with some of the most impressive shots in film history.

8. I really, really dislike "Gone with the Wind"
and not just because of racist material in it, but the utter uselessness of spending hours with an mindless and egocentric twit oblivious to all around her who learns nothing as a result of her life experience. To be realistic, the only reason her suitors could be interested in her was to get to her father's money, as far as I could see. How could any man find Scarlett O'Hara appealing?

I will say that it is not the worse film ever made, but it is the worst one that appears on many peoples' lists of top films.

5. Citizen Kane and Casablanca
do not reach the mighty cultural sophisitication that was 'Red Dawn' and all Chuck Norris motion pictures.

6. Well, I can hardly argue with that
And no "best of" list is complete without Coyote Ugly.
