Do you kiss your dog or cat on the lips?
Am I abnormal for doing this? One of my best friends just told me that you can get sick from kissing your pets. It's not like I'm grooming them or something, just a quick kiss once in a while. Am I weird?

1. No, I don't think so.
I don't do it, but that's because my cats would rip my eyes out if I did.

4. Sometimes I kiss my "Bear" on the side of his cheek (pic below)....
...I guess that is like a cat's lips! He loves it...and it's never made me sick.

I wouldn't kiss a dog, though...even though I've heard a dog has a cleaner mouth than cats (just more trivia crammed into my little brain).

31. I'm the same way. I smooch my kitties (yes, on the lips) but
I would never want to kiss a dog on the mouth. x( Major double standard I have going.

18. I said something to my son
regarding kissing my kitty on her cat lips. He said Mom, cats don't have lips. I said, hummm, what do they have then? He goes, rims. I thought uggg, that just sounds so sick and wrong. She hates it but I always try to smooch her kitty whiskers. She's my love cat.:loveya:

8. I kiss my dogs all the time.
We play the "kissy game", whereby we trade kisses. :) And I kiss them on the head frequently, and I hug them too. :P I never kiss them, though, unless I'm sure they haven't had anything gross in their mouths. :yoiks:

10. My grandma kitty'll give kisses...
Edited on Thu Sep-28-06 01:20 PM by reyd reid reed
If I click to her and point to my lips, she'll kiss. And my cat-dog will, too.

I wouldn't even Try with her sister, though. Not after this:

(Lesson: never, ever try and get in between an alpha-female cat and a visiting dog)

14. Ouch!
A friend of my ex-BIL made the mistake once to bring his mother's cat out into the livingroom when there was a dog visiting. His head was a bloody mess afterwards ...

I looked somewhat similar trying to held my sister's cat, crossing the street. Ouch.

That's not you, is it? The hair color's not right. Or maybe it's just the lighting.

In any case...

12. It just doesn't seem like such a strange thing to me
My friend acted horrified and she is a total animal lover. And for all the money I spend at the vet, I can't imagine getting sick from my cat. I brush her teeth regularly, which apparently most people don't, so she's especially clean and fresh.

I sometimes kiss dogs too, sometimes even random dogs. I suppose no animal is really safe from my kisses now that I'm thinking about it.
