Let's hope Barry Bonds retires...
...though I doubt if he will. The last thing we need--whatever your position on the steroids controversy(and I think it's been overblown)--is a controversial, long, and utterly joyless assualt on Aaron's record by Mr Warmth...keeping the Juice Era in everyone's consciousness...and finishing up with a record that, rightly or wrongly, will forever have a mental asterisk in most people's heads... Bonds is an arrogant prick, so he'll do what he wants. Apparently he's feeling better lately--he's certainly hitting well since the All-Star break, and he's still one of the five best offensive players in baseball...so he'll probably play...:-(...

15. There's also the possibility that at the rate
his enormous head is growing that he won't be able to stand upright by next season.

Hey I can hope can't I?

3. I still think he was a great ball-player
he was very good when he was here in Pittsbburgh, although he is certainly not well-loved here. He certainly ain't no Clemente or Stargilll. ;)

But, isn't it fair to say that no one is guilty until convicted?

4. Bonds is not retiring
He needs only 22 more home runs for the record.

6. He's going to move over to the the American league someday....
where he can play the DH crap till he breaks the record or dies...whichever happens first.

In any event, he'll be out of San Francisco and we can get back to playing serious baseball.

7. No way
He's a draw in SF. They'd be fools to unload him.

Plus, it would start a whole new shitstorm.

about what the player needs?

10. Kinda like never....
but they will be real pissed when all the fans start reading if Bonds will be starting, or not, and attend accordingly. He will soon be a liability when he can only play a game or two a week.

12. Oakland will NEVER pick him up.
Billy Beane isn't much for big personalities, shall we say. Besides, we've got Frank Thomas as our DH, and will most likely keep him for a couple more years. Barry who?

I want Barry far, far away from anybody even remotely connected with my beloved A's, thank you very much.

11. I hope he breaks the fucking record.
That way those asshole sportswriters like Jay Mariotti and Bill Plaschke(I know it's misspelled, but I don't give a fuck) will have a collective heart-attack and fucking die. Y'know, Ozzie Guillen wasn't too far off when he had that classic rant on Mariotti. It was Lee Eila-esque.

Writers like Mariotti can't just let someone be successful without trying to tear them down. And I'll have to surf around for video of Guillen ripping into his whiny ass.

17. Those "Around the Horn" guys...?
...You know--you might have a point...it almost would be worth seeing Bonds break the record to piss them off, because they're even bigger assholes than he is--at least those two guys are...that show is the sports equivalent of Fox "News"--just idiots screaming at each other, pretending to be twelve years old...
