When did you realize going off the meds was a bad idea?
For me, it was when I was staring out of the second story window, having an inner dialogue about how jumping out the window would make the dizziness and pain stop.

Going off (or on) Effexor is NASTY.

1. Please!
Will you please call a professional immediately? Truly, you need to tell someone (someone qualified) the very second you have a suicidal thought...it is not the kind of thing you mess around with!!!

Going off meds is serious business.
Make sure you're doing it right under a
doctor's care.

Here's a link with info on Effexor

http://www.effexorxr.com/

Antidepressants increased the risk of suicidal thinking and behavior in children and teenagers. Patients who are started on therapy should be observed closely for clinical worsening, suicidality, or unusual changes in behavior. EFFEXOR XR® (venlafaxine HCl) is not approved for use in children and teenagers.

6. Hey! I went right back on the meds the minute I had those thoughts
Edited on Wed Sep-27-06 07:35 PM by Taverner
It was like "do not pass go..."

I may have gone off them the right way, but I don't want to ever deal with that again.

So I'm staying on the meds until further notice

2. Anyone who knows how to put a 30 line comment in their profile
needs to stick around just to tell the rest of us how you did it.
Thank you.

4. Effexor IS nasty stuff to combat.
I have heard that (and please check on this) taking a benedryl (or equivalent) can alleviate some of the fucked up side effects...but it's been awhile since I've researched that drug. I had a partner on that at one time and the withdrawl symptoms were horrendous.

Please, as the other poster noted, call your physician. Withdrawl or no, you must check in and see what you can do about it.

I am off my meds, and successfully. A small bout of weird heart fluttering, but that's it.

7. When I saw my dead grandmother crawling up my pant leg...
with a knife clenched in her teeth.

Yeah, I was totally fucked up when I read that book.
