New Group proposal: Photoshop group

I'd like to propose a new group: The Photoshop Group.

I'm talking Worth1000.com here; real, honest-to-goodness, crazy manipulation. I love photoshop, and I bet I'm not the only one.

(edit) Mission Statement: The Photoshop Group is meant to bring together photoshop enthusiasts to share work, knowledge and tutorials. Anyone from complete beginner to guru is welcome- as are users of GIMP and other photoshop-esq programs.

Any takers?

If you all taught me tricks and stuff with photoshop. I typically use photoshop for digital coloring, but I'd love to learn how to do manipulations and stuff.

Why are photography and art different groups? How about writing and art?

Photoshop (like writing or photography) is really specific- and really awesome. So why not make a specific (re: awesome) group?

20. It would annoy me to be associated with a "Photoshop" group, since I have

never and will never use "Photoshop" - a more generic name would be more appealing to me. Seems like asking a Mercury owner to help create a Dodge club because they're interested in automobiles, but perhaps I'm the only one that feels that way. Other than the naming problem, I'm interested.

21. While I think the name is based on industry standard...

I would be okay with "Image Manipulation Group." But in my mind, it doesn't sound as good. Also, a "photoshoped" picture can be done with any number of tools, from GIMP to Blender. Consider this: you never see an "image manipulation" contest, only "photoshop" contests- even when it's likely that many of the contestants are using OSS (Open Source Software) programs.

22. Well, I find using a brand name about as attractive as calling something

the Kleenex group, which is also a word in common use, or renaming the photography group to the Kodak, Fuji, or Nikon group, but I'm just one person.

I spend between four and ten hours a day with Photoshop, to the point where I dream in layers sometimes; I just can't.
