If a film contains male rear nudity, it is more likely to be given a lower rating than if the nudity were female. Male nudity is generally regarded as ribald (i.e. mooning) or natural, whereas female nudity is generally regarded as sexual.

2. So I was watching "Earth vs. the Flying Saucers" this weekend.

Old AIP monster flick from the seventies. Kind of like The Day the Earth Stood Still, only without the humanitarian message. Perfect for the seven to ten year old demographic.

But the people who handled the ratings didn't think so. They gave it a TV-14. Labelled it "adult content." I guess techincally the movie contains adults, but the rating system's all fucked up.

Take that puppet movie the South Park guys did. The ratings board didn't want them to have the puppets fuck doggie-style, so they made them fuck in the missionary position.

I sure hope nobody actually pays attention to ratings anymore.

It is odd that full frontal nudity is inequitably distributed in the media.

I mean, women and men are shown topless pretty often, but below-the-waist nudity isn't very common onscreen for men or women.

I may be wrong, of course, but that's my impression.

5. actually what is even stranger

is that in movies and tv now, couples are shown making love, or just after, and the woman will be wearing a bra or top, a likely story.

Full frontal has been on the wane, not like the good old days. World is just going to hell in a handbasket.

Here in Europe full nudity (non-sex ) can be shown on day tv.
