Is anyone watching "My Three Wives" now?
Ugggggggggh.

It's on TLC (The Learning Channel). It's a man in Texas who married one woman, had kids with her, then had an "unofficial" marriage to a second woman, now there is a third.

:puke:

1. No one else is watching this?
It is the most gag-worthy thing I've seen in a long-time.

Granted, I only found it while channel-surfing, but like a trainwreck I can't look away.

2. yep - I am watching it
if that is how they want to live, I do not see why it would a problem for anyone else . .

their arrangement certainly has no impact on me

3. I would normally agree
but it's obvious they are very unhappy, with the "husband" holding court with all his wimminfolks.

I think the guy is a dickhead and a control-freak.

4. I only see a problem with it if the women aren't equals to the man
in the relationship. I haven't seen the show, so I can't judge them. However, I have no problems with people choosing to live in a polyamorous relationship, provided they are all equals within that relationship.

5. well
since when does any form of marriage include a provision that all are equal????

How many "legal" marriages operate on that premise?

6. Well, I think everyone should be equal within a "legal" marriage as well
so I don't really understand your point.

8. well - I was just commenting that you said
you supported polyamorous relationships provided all are equals

I just did not understand why you limited that statement to these relationships

7. And since you are watching it
Do you think they look HAPPY?

It's total strife and stress and insecurity.

9. no - they certainly do not appear to be happy

but I do not see any trying to leave the relationship

or being forced to stay against their will

10. Correct
They are miserable, but have been manipulated by this asshole to think he is the "prize" over which to be fought and retained.

It is clearly not an equitable arrangement.

11. do you think any of these women
would be in an equitable arrangement if in a typical marriage?

I certainly do not disagree with you - this guy is a total jerk - he thrives on their dependency

12. I watched it for the whole hour.
Then turned it off in disgust. :puke: Curiosity kept me going.

The pukiest part was how much this dude thought he was the world's gift to women. And then he has this meeting to tell them all how it's going to be. Well, OK, that was slightly less puke-worthy than when he looked in the mirror and declared how "pretty" he is. :puke:

14. Yeah the hair part
was especially barf-o-rama. "I look so good!" or whatever he said.

He enjoyed sitting back and watching the women fight amongst themselves, OVER HIM, and then acted like he was the most reasonable person in the room.

15. That's the part.
:puke: Jeez! He's some fucked-up guy! Harleydad observed that the guy must have a problem with commitment ... b/c he kept them all at arms-length.

16. well - you might argue he is
fucked up, but he is able to attract women into his arrangement

and his kids want a life-style similar to his when they grow up - at least the one boy claimed that

17. Most of the kids said otherwise
Anyone here can watch a rerun of this show.

The kids were very uncomfortable with this arrangement.

18. Lots of fucked-up men can attract women.
It's a mystery to me what they see in him.

We must've watched a different show. I only saw one kid say he might want more than one wife.

20. Yes, I saw this.
The third wife ended up leaving the home in tears. The other two wives now say that he will have to earn their trust.
