4. Highest caliber of play of any single day in golf history
Absolutely freakish. I've watched for 30+ years and there was never anything comparable. In particular, there was a half hour stretch where virtually every 30 or 40 footer was drained along with several chip shots and incredible approach shots. Sergio was literally livid that Stewart Cink was rolling in putts from the other side of the green on one hole after another. The fitting end to that match was Sergio chipping in to keep his hopes seemingly alive, then Cink ended the match seconds later with another long distance plummet.

Only one problem with televised golf at that level; it encourages the idiocy of comparisons to chess. I see that here and on other sites and it busts me up. The announcers say, "well he needs to hit this 265 yard 3 wood off a downhill lie into the wind, preferably with a slight fade over the trees and water, then stop it on the upper level of the sliver of a green." Then the player pulls it off and the fans who have no clue how difficult golf is determine there's nothing to it, just decide where you want the ball to go and it follows instructions.

Early prediction for 2008: the USA wins at Valhalla. Years ago for some reason I got the feeling all the great European players who were born in the 1957-range would become Ryder Cup captains, and they would fare well other than Nick Faldo would lose. Faldo is the captain in 2008. Now you've had Seve, Langer and Woosnam win as captains, but I'll stick with my gut feeling that Faldo's squad will lose.
