It's Homecoming at my son's high school tonight!
Our team won the football game last night
The entire homecoming court are attractive and get good grades and are involved in volunteer projects outside of school.
Truly, this town is Pleasantville!

In honor of my son't final high school homecoming - please show me some ugly dresses....

 I'M WAITING!!!!

2. Funny you should ask
I'm actually sitting in his school's auditorium watching several drama students work on set construction.

My son and his friend (who is a girl but not his girlfriend) are working together and he informed her last week that he and his two best friends are going as bachelors to the dance (he and his friend went to prom last spring) she said "so what am I a bachelorette?" he responded, "If you want to be".

They have been bickering all morning. He told her to go to the dance with her girlfriends so they could dance together and she said she would to keep track of who he dances with.

It's so cute to see them have this argument b/c they really care about each other and have been friends for 10 years. It's the typical high school couple spat.

Anyhow, the boys decided not to take dates to homecoming but will take dates to prom - this is a 'guy's night' tonight.

Uh, where's my ugly dress......???

5. Umm....I'm a guy...and I'm not a cross dresser...
the closest I got to a dress was a rather unfortunate halloween costume.

13. We have had 'the talk'
but we have no worries. Because of other circumstances we are with him about 24-7.

We drive him to all events and stay at them w/him and his friends. (Which is why I'm at the high school right now) We chaperoned every dance but one in Jr. High (he was in the hospital for the one we didn't chaperon). We are at every school event he's at and have the majority of the parties the guys have at our house.

(he uses a wheelchair and is allergic to most animals - needless to say there are not many houses he can go to).

We've tried to give him space by eating in different parts of restaurants when we take the kids out for dinner and seeing different movies when we take them there. His friends are really cool with us being there and the staff at the school has become accustom to us blending into the woodwork.

We hope for more independence for him in the future but he tried a week away at a camp this summer and it was a disaster! Maybe next year???

If he can find a way to get him some luving w/mom & dad around....more power to him!!!! (Although he really hasn't expressed any interest in it) He's more into the 'woo hoo it's a party' attitude right now.

:hi:

I need another dress please....

20. pastel plaid??? THAT ROCKS!!!
The class of '56 was honored at the game. I don't think any of us geezers are invited to the dance (I just had my 20 year reunion this summer).

26. Funny you should mention what homecoming's about...
...my goddaughter is a cheerleader for the high school I graduated from.

A few weeks ago, I taught her a cheer we did 25 years ago (I was the captain of the cheerleading squad way back then). She taught the cheer to both the varsity and JV squads, and they plan on doing it next weekend for their homecoming - with a reference to the person who brought it back from the dead (me).

Yes, I am going, and yes, I am thrilled to find the kids of today so interested in bringing back a 20-some year old moth-eaten cheer. ;-)

31. Woo-hoo!
I was a cheerleader 20 years ago and am amazed at what the girls do today (pyramids and flips and all) compared to our cheers way back when!
