7. It was bad
Bad day at work, wishing I was still in Hawaii (I know, poor pitiful me, right). Then, about 30 minutes ago, got really bad news about a family member (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x5656398). I think I'll sign off now before I depress anybody further.

12. I'm sorry to hear that.
I will be sending my best thoughts and wishes your way for you and your husband and for your husband's cousin. Don't think you are depressing anyone. We are here for each other on many occasions. I know there have been times when I have needed some good thoughts and the Lounge was the only place I could find those.

5. I live right above the uppermost
point on the star, about 12 miles from the epicenter. Wow, and my sorry ass slept through it. }(

Or you could look at it as: I live in the middle green area near the 16-18%g range, whatever that means. I'm not sure what this map is showing other than the epicenter and the range that it was felt.

Do you know what the %g means?

14. The Pee Dee River separates Richmond County from Anson County.
Both used to be one county ages ago. The Pee Dee runs down the west side of our county. It's both beautiful and creepy there at night. I couldn't love the river more than I do as of now. It's on my "if I win the lottery" list. They want to destroy it with million dollar homes that no one in this county could afford. "If I win the lottery..." they will have to fight me to do it. }(

You know after typing the name "Pee Dee," I began to wonder where they got that name. Hmm... and who was Dee? :P

I checked your profile. You know trees? Have you ever heard of a deciduous tree with green leaves that are coated in its own brown/black tar with almost white bark on its trunk? There was one of those in my yard that constantly dropped tar/sap on me and the car. It was already here when I moved in. I want to make sure I don't accidentally buy one of those when I do get enough money saved up to landscape the yard the way I want to. That tree even enlisted the help of a bird with diarrhea to help it shit on my head every morning before school. I had to constantly wash the windows and before I finished the side and back windows the front window would be coated in the stickiest brown sap/tar I have ever seen. I could not believe the amount of sap that tree put out. Nasty heifer that it was.

15. Uh...
That part of my profile references a Monty Python bit, "How to Recognise Different Types of Trees From Quite a Long Way Away."

Number one ?? the larch.

The... larch.

Sorry to disappoint. :hi:

16. It's cool. I think even the most ardent
treeologist (I can't spell arborist right) would have a hard time identifying that tree. I never watched Monty Python before. I'm Monty Python deprived. Sorry.

You didn't disappoint me. :pals:

18. I'm in NC.
I'm not sure where she is to be honest. I can't remember if she ever mentioned it. I sure have heard that Monty Python is funny, but never had the chance to watch. They used to show Benny Hill a lot on late night television around here, but recently they have stopped it altogether. I really liked him. I can still remember the episode where he had a set of chester drawers with a woman painted on the front. The knobs to pull the drawers open were shaped just like nipples. I have never been able to find one like that though. Maybe one day I'll make one. I'll need someone who can draw a woman pretty realistic though.

Is Monty Python anything like Benny Hill was? I always got the feeling it was.

I've always :eyes: when discussing British comedy and some nØØb says, "Oh, I love Benny Hill." (I'm not gonna :eyes: you because you asked. Big difference.)

Benny Hill did burlesque. Python is known for satire, but they really can't be categorized. They were all over the road, breaking all the rules. That's why a lotta folks don't "get" 'em.

And I think Buffy lives in SC, but don't quote me.

Edit: Here's a pretty good example of Pythonic humour: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmA7JhxGgWY

"Ew! With a gamey leg??"

3. I called into work today
and told them I would be coming in late.

I never went in.

I felt burnt out and mentally fried, and slept most of the night and day away.

Now, I have small pangs of guilt, but feel better.

All in all, not a bad day.

6. I have days like that too.
You feel guilty because your body and mind are telling you to rest, but your boss and pockets are laying the guilt trip on you. It's best to listen to your body. Maybe if more people would just say so and rest from time to time, we could stop this breakneck pace we are expected to live. The pace is just too fast and our lives suffer for it.
